It’s difficult to wrap one’s mind around NIH’s decision to shut down the most important shared resource for work in many of the world’s most impactful infectious diseases.

Really happy to have played a very tiny part in this project! You should check it out if you're interested in knowledge graphs and want to see an example of it's use in infectious disease ecology!
Great phylodynamic work on enterovirus D68 headed by
@vrduvvuri one of the coolest aspects of the project was using phylodynamic models to estimate the infectious period of the virus which previously had a wide and uninformative range! https://t.co/kZI5Jh4qJi
Check out this awesome work just preprinted (threaded summary of findings in post below). Was very fortunate to have the opportunity to contribute to this cool work on canine influenza! 🐶
So its happening yall - students are asking me to mentor them in bioinformatics 🥲 problem is they are at other institutions. I do have some projects that I need assistance with that are appropriate for an undergrad, but I don't know how to do that cross-university. Any advice?!
Really glad to say our spatial model of HPAI (hi path avian influenza) in Europe is now preprinted!
Tremendous effort from @JoeBHilton and Dr Sarah Hayes to understand which host ecology factors drive bird flu presence, where, and when.

Excited to announce the beta release of our new MicrobiomeDB R package! This package is intended to be companion to our @microbiomeDB website and provides convenient, programmatic access to all of our curated 16S and shotgun metagenomic datasets. #microbiome#rstats#dataviz
If you work on pandemics, global health security, disease ecology, or conservation, I hope you'll read and share our new preprint. 👇
(Or, just take this statistic: For every hour you travel from a clinic, the lifetime odds of detecting an outbreak goes down by one third.)
Very insightful piece by @sciencecohen in @ScienceMagazine News on the ongoing spread of bird flu in the US with specific mention of South-North movements of cattle at this time of year, coinciding with bird movements (see below)? https://t.co/oTcBrp8NfU
Want to join #TeamEmergence? The call is once again open for postdocs or late-stage PhD students to join our team as Fellows in Residence: a 6- or 12-month virtual collaborator status with a $5k stipend and tons of professional development opportunities! https://t.co/5BVgZQupI7

For those who check model assumptions (you ALL should), the {easystats} package makes it very easy to do this with various models but particularly regression models
