Today I was proud to march with council colleagues at @northernprideuk. The theme for this year's pride is "unapologetically visible" and it was great to march alongside my husband and so many others to show what a welcoming and inclusive city Newcastle is. 🏳️‍🌈

Today marks #TransDayOfRememberance, today we remember and grieve for all the trans people we have lost.

The trans community in the UK deserves the right to live freely and safely, without threat of violence or discrimination, and we will continue to fight every day for that.

I love Pride. It shows the best of the North East and our diversity, but crucially reminds us that too many people that identify as LGBTQ+ suffer hate and discrimination
