According to this @UWaterloo study:
“We don't think that they should be accessing support from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation or Canada's National Housing Strategy.”
💯
Now fix it, @MarkJCarney@gregorrobertson@fordnation@RobFlackEML

@LHPTA_TO “Chassé told Financial Post the Bureau’s recent statement was unrelated to its investigation into algorithmic pricing in the rental housing market, which she said is still ongoing.”

“It is illegal for competitors to agree about:
Rental prices, including any increases or surcharges.
The terms of their leases, including amenities and services.
Restricting the housing supply by artificially reducing the availability of rental units.”

@LHPTA_TO @YSWtenants @ParkdaleOrg At the end of the day, it's all about a simple fact: tenants outnumber landlords. By a lot. Tenants have all the power, if they get together and use it. And the landlords know it. And they fear it.
We marched through the financial district with tenant organizations from across Toronto. The message is clear, we won't be pushed out of our city and we'll stand up for each other.
Ps. We also brought some friends 🪳🪳🪳🪳 back to the landlords making profits out of our homes.
Our march for #housingjustice through the streets of central Toronto was a huge success. A growing alliance of tenants, unhoused people and communities challenging the greed of the developers pulled this action off. It was an important step forward.
We’ve been marching through the streets, getting lots of solidarity from everyone out here. It’s clear, we will not be pushed out by the corporate landlords.
TORONTO’S NEW LANDLORDS: They’re ultra rich & over the next 8 years they’re bringing 21,000 units without rent control to a new building near you.
Meet the corporate firms that a growing number of Torontonians are paying their rent to.

Thrilled to join the Annual Community BBQ hosted by Livmore High Park Tenants' Association!
It’s always heartening to see neighbours come together and build community over good food and great conversations.
Thank you @LHPTA_TO for your continued advocacy and community leadership!
The rise of a "condo class" in Canada has deeply disrupted political organizing.
“Developers, slash landlords, slash the corporate class, have overcome the threat of community organizing for the collective good within these spaces.” @readthemaple

“Renters cannot wait for market forces to self-correct. Recognizing and regulating tenant unions is the most direct route to balancing power, safeguarding homes and treating housing as a human right rather than an asset class.”

“Granting labour-style protections to tenant unions is hardly radical; it simply extends a principle Canada embraced nearly a century ago: collective problems require collective rights.”

🚨Unite for Full Rent Control!🚨
I just sent a @FairRent_On letter demanding full rent control! Premier @FordNation: Protect Ontarians and stop skyrocketing rents. 💸🏠

Another great example of direct action that gets meaningful results 👏💪✊
Yes, we should continue to push for legislative & political change…
But as long as laws & gov’t favour big landlords (REITs, hedge funds, etc) we must always *stand together to protect each each other*
A tenant win that keeps on giving! In 2020, during the pandemic, the new landlord tried to renovict Glenn, Thamina & Sue. They resisted and won.
2 weeks ago, the landlord tried for an AGI. Tenants resisted & won again, with the landlord withdrawing the application!
