🎥 For the first time since the start of the Iran war, both the House and Senate passed a concurrent resolution ordering President Trump to remove U.S. armed forces from hostilities against Iran.
Under the 1973 War Powers Resolution, the measure does not require a presidential signature and cannot be vetoed. Trump, though, has refused to comply with the resolution, continuing his assault on Iran and setting up a potentially historic legal showdown.
Drop Site’s @JulianAndreone asked senators on Capitol Hill whether they would consider pushing the courts to enforce the legislative action they took to restrain Trump’s illegal war. Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) noted that Congress has never actually passed such a resolution before, opening a new legal avenue to be addressed via litigation. Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) spoke about a lawsuit he personally filed as an individual senator, based on a claim which the courts determined did not have standing and dismissed on “political questions” grounds.
The “political questions” doctrine, however, only applies when Congress has yet to act and the judiciary decides not to intervene, not after both chambers have already spoken as they now have.
@SecRubio Your support of genocide against the indigenous Palestinian population of Gaza and the West Bank and your lethal embargo on the poor people of Cuba hasn’t crowned you with moral glory Mr Rubio. A refresher course in the history of moral ethics and International Law would help.
Utterly shocking but not a surprise. Impunity breeds hubris.
All states and people who care for Freedom must rise up in defense of the ICC and int'l justice now, before it's too late.
It's rule of law or barbarism.
BREAKING: Senate Dems, under the leadership of Sen. @ChrisVanHollen & @SenSanders, unite to block the NDAA from moving forward because of its provisions to deepen US-Israeli military and intel relations. This is remarkable and further evidence the US is moving away from Israel.
Can we just… drop the facade of morality here for a minute and speak candidly?
Iran is RIGHT for striking vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. I said it, I don’t care if you like it. You’re lying to yourself if you want to act like it’s wrong.
The United States launched a war of aggression against a sovereign country, and this is an obvious and long-identified defense maneuver meant to create asymmetric downside against an overwhelmingly more powerful military adversary.
“Ohhhh but it’s wronggg. What about international lawwwww”
Last I checked, slaughtering 120 schoolchildren in Minab is against international law. Last I checked, launching a war of aggression against a sovereign nation like we see here is against international law. Last I checked, bombing water storage and infrastructure facilities is against international law…
… last I checked, the United States killed three Indian sailors in the Strait of Hormuz by attacking a civilian vessel.
“Ohhhhh but maritime lawwww. UNCLOS”
Y’all check on Cuba lately? The last delivery of oil to Matanzas was the Anatoly Kolodkin in MARCH. The United States is the SOLE reason the Universal couldn’t deliver in May. They have blackouts for 22 hours a day. Their hospitals can’t function.
You can whine all you want about morals and ethics, but maybe take a second to realize how stupid you sound doing it.
While the US is bombing Tehran and Trump is threatening to “decimate all areas of Iran with 1,000 missiles,” Iran is delivering 160 tons of humanitarian aid to Venezuela. It’s pretty clear which country is the terrorist state.
Congressman @RoKhanna is fuming after Israeli settlers - with support from the Israeli military - detained & harassed him for 90 minutes.
He says that Israel's total impunity - thanks to America's blank check to Israel - has created "a toxic culture of oppression."
It's important to understand that this kind of harassment also happened in the past. But back then, US lawmakers would stay quiet and bring no attention to it. But today, speaking out against Israel makes you a political hero among the majority of Americans.
💢 REPORT: A newly published testimony alleges Dr. Iyad Al-Rantisi, the former head of obstetrics at Kamal Adwan Hospital, died after being severely beaten during interrogation following his arrest by Israeli forces in November 2023. At least 3 doctors have died in Israeli custody during the genocide, Palestinian officials say.
According to Palestine Online, a recently released detainee said former Kamal Adwan director Dr. Ahmad Al-Kahlout told him Al-Rantisi suffered repeated blows to his kidneys during Shin Bet interrogation in Ashkelon, causing fatal internal bleeding days later. The former detainee also alleges an interrogator later threatened Al-Kahlout: “If you don’t confess, we’ll kill you like we killed your friend.”
Al-Rantisi’s family waited eight months hoping for his release before learning of his death through Israeli media. Gaza’s Health Ministry says more than 320 healthcare workers have been detained since October 2023, with 83 still imprisoned, including Dr. Abu Safiya.
My friend's dad worked at a manufacturing plant for 32 years.
Never missed a day. Perfect attendance.
Made $55,000 a year. Not rich. Not poor. Stable.
In 2008 the company laid off 5,000 people to boost stock prices.
He was one of them. At 58.
His pension? Gone. They said "restructuring."
His 401(k)? Lost $180,000 in the crash that same month.
He had to get a job at Home Depot at 59 making $16/hour.
His wife took a second job.
They sold their house. Moved to a smaller one.
He's 73 now. Still working. Can't afford to retire.
Meanwhile the CEO who laid him off got a $15 million golden parachute.
My friend watched his dad's life get destroyed so shareholders could see stock growth.
32 years of loyalty meant nothing.
One bad quarter and he was disposable.
That's the system. Work your whole life. Get nothing. Watch others get everything.
RFK Jr dissolved the CDC Division for Parasitic disease
Now a parasite is causing huge outbreaks of explosive diarrhoea across the US
What a foolish move
Netanyahu said that an Iranian nuclear strike on Israel would be like “10,000 tons of TNT falling on a country the size of New Jersey (22,610 km2).”
Israel has dropped 223,000+ tonnes of explosives on Gaza (365 km2) - the equivalent of 22 nukes on 1.6% the size of New Jersey.
Big cyclosporiasis outbreak in 18+ states. 1000 cases just in Michigan. (Normal ~50 per year).
CDC doesn’t even seem to know of the outbreak officially.
CDC “quietly” dropped surveilling it last year, citing no funding. DOGE also cut about 20% CDC staff.
Woodchipper in action.
Spain is showing spine to the world. 🇪🇸🔥
🇺🇸Trump today: "The U.S. will cut all trade with Spain due to the airspace closures during the Iran war."
🇪🇸Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez: "We don't care. Go to hell. We will find other partners, but we will not support the U.S. and Israel's illegal war against Iran."
Spine: 100%
Courage: 100%
JUST SO I UNDERSTAND THIS, BLOCKING THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ IS UNFAIR, BUT BLOCKING OIL SHIPMENTS TO CUBA IN ORDER TO COLLAPSE THEIR WHOLE COUNTRY, IS FAIR 🤔 DID I GET THAT RIGHT 🙄
Nothing justifies killing ~22,000 children in Gaza. Nothing justifies burning children alive while they sleep in tents in refugee camps. Nothing justifies starving nearly a million children. Nothing. Not self defense. Not human shields. Nothing.
