@erinhahn_author See this is good setup for a moment where the love interest pays attention to her needs. Ex. They go on a date and she has the "oh god can I actually have anything at this place?" moment only to find out they made sure ahead of time that the place/menu was gluten free
Waiting on a response from a literary magazine is fine up until the last week. I'm fine for three straight months with no clue, but it gets down to that last couple days and suddenly I'm opening and closing Submittable like a tiger pacing in its cage.
@princebush_ "Do these two words say the same thing." If I have two words nearby that fulfill the same role (like conveying the same quality or emotion) in a poem, I either merge them or cut one. It's simple but it can slim out a poem.
So excited for this project to find its place! TWDS is full of character, style, and *gut-wrenching* emotion. It kept me up until 4am. I was so lucky to be a beta reader on this project; it's definitely worth the read.
Thinking about changing one detail of my WIP that changes the entire story and currently making a full pros/cons list with *headers and subheaders* and this is very serious business
My current WIP is a rewrite, which means that some chapters stay basically unchanged, with a few edits for style, and sometimes it's like a train has been derailed because SOMEONE decided it was sidequest hour and plotholes gotta be filled somehow...
reminder that the pressure to publish young under 20 is self-imposed and an illusion! no one has ever deemed an unpublished 19yo a failure. it is better to publish as a good 20+yo writer with agents/presses you're comfy with than a half-baked 18yo writer who tried to rush it all
The semester ends and immediately *BAM*, actual time to work on my WIP, almost 3000 words of progress in one day. Maybe I actually can finish this novel this summer
@chillsubs This is such a helpful project! It's clear a lot of effort and care goes into making this. If you have the time, I'd love to connect with you about Inklings, a small university run journal I think would make a great addition to your roster.
I love writing poetry in notebooks, but if I had to write a novel in a notebook, I think I'd die. Writing short pieces is such a different experience from writing long pieces.
@camiscribbles Hey, as someone with a very similar writing journey, I wish you the best. It's so hard to go back after you quit, and it takes a lot of strength to do so. Keep writing :)
Missing a deadline to submit to a literary magazine because you have a perfect piece for it, but you want the it to be edited and *better* before you submit it.... I'll get you next time, submission window
