Today we are going to recognize our CDE teams. These competitions allow us to apply what we have learned in class to real life scenarios. These events also help build public speaking and leadership skills. Due to the global pandemic, our spring CDE teams were unable to compete.
Fun fact! Once male bumblebees leave the nest (just a few days after hatching), they don't return, so the bumblebees will often sleep on or even inside a flower at night. #SleepingBee#GettingSomeZzzs#Salvia ππ΄
Did you know that bees do a "waggle dance" in the hive to show other πs exactly where to search for food? One second of a dance is equal to food being about 1km away! Based on the direction the bee dances, other bees know what direction/how many degrees away from the sun to fly.
Pollinator gardens are the bee's knees!
And bees DO have knees! Like all insects, bees have 6 sections to their legs: the coxa, trochanter, femur, tibia, metatarsus, & tarsus. Each is connected by a joint, and the one most like a knee is between the femur and tibia.Β #agfacts
Huge congrats to our 7th grade Exploratory Degree recipients as well as our 8th grade Discovery Degree recipients!! Congrats also to members of our parent chapter at the high school who have earned their Greenhand and Chapter Degrees! Great job, all! π
Next up is our degree recipients. During a members FFA career, they are able to earn degrees. These are earned based on their involvement not only within the chapter, but outside of it as well. The following students have shown what it takes to be an outstanding FFA member.
Due to the current situation we are unable to hold our in-person banquet. So during this week we are going to recognize all the hard work put in by our students.
First off, we want to take the time to recognize all of our sponsors from this year. We truly appreciate your support
Students were given an assignment to go for a hike this week and connect with nature. They were asked to record the sights and sounds from their hike and were also asked about their mood before and after the hike. The stats speak for themselves...
No, this isn't perfect research. But these observations and self-reports are important. It's a key to what can make our students happier and less stressed. It's a key to what can make us happier and less stressed too! π²π³ποΈ#GetOutdoors#VitaminN#TakeAHike
Dear Twitter, please help me ID this snake. It was spotted yesterday at #CowelsBog at @IndianaDunesNPS. I think it looks like a Massasauga... and, no, I couldn't see the tail... but that would be *pretty* crazy if it was. Although stranger things have happened! #HerpHelp
I was able to get into my classroom for 15 minutes today. I ended up just sitting for a good 5 minutes and reminiscing. Miss this view. Miss the students and all our fun projects even more π§‘π€
