Very happy to see @annaliisalaine's & my article out in @ScienceMagazine today! We reveal that the more a plant species invests in defense, the less potential it has for growth. All made possible by lots of public data & amazing open science contributions! https://t.co/Cs2zdVN1kS

A new project, led by #NIAB and @emblebi means that the genetic resources behind some of the most important plant traits driving agricultural crop production are being made easier to access by researchers with the development of open-source genomic tools➡️ https://t.co/868QhL9cCE
NEWS: NIAB welcomes return of Genetic Technology (Precision Breeding) Bill to @UKParliament on Monday. "It will drive innovation & investment in our agrifood sector," says NIAB CEO @mcaccamo#cropgenetics#UKparliament#agrifood

We generated chromosome-scale genome assemblies of the English and Indian grain aphids (Sitobion species).
Fun detective work shows that hybridisation has been an important force in grain #aphid evolution.

This was a great collaboration with @LaraUrban42@c_bortoluzzi2@gsegelbacher and others not on Twitter: Cock van Oosterhout, Sam Speak, Tom Birley, Larry Percival-Alwyn, and Jim Groombridge
Today we awarded Prof Ian MacKay Honorary Fellowship of NIAB. The award recognises his significant contribution to NIAB as former Head of Quantitative Genetics and his work on the MAGIC wheat populations and the contribution it's made to plant breeding.
Congratulations Ian! 👏
NIAB’s @mcaccamo & @harryinashed provided evidence to the Genetic Technology Bill Committee this week https://t.co/hn7G0PTPOy on the impact of advanced breeding technologies in crop production & food security. Watch here https://t.co/EPDHzOT6m1 & https://t.co/LESCmlCW4U
We have a great PhD opportunity in weed biology & ecology in conservation agriculture based at NIAB with @unilincoln in partnership with @SyngentaCropsUK.

The pink pigeon is hailed as a conservation success - but will it stand the test of time?
In today's #NatureNews, experts warn the unique bird, from the island of the dodo, could go extinct within a century without more help.
