I’m State Senator Gustavo Rivera. As chair of the Senate Health Committee, I am committed to making sure New Yorkers get the information they need to stay healthy in the wake of rising monkeypox cases in New York and across the country. 1/🧵
Monkeypox cases are skyrocketing. The vax doses available aren’t nearly enough. Mor vax doses are needed to have an impact on the health of our community. Let's push @HHSGov to release more stockpiled doses and train our health providers to identify signs, symptoms and vaccinate.
As of today, 111 people have tested positive for orthopoxvirus in NYC, which is presumed to be monkeypox.
While anyone can get monkeypox, current cases are primarily spreading among social networks of gay, bisexual & other men who have sex with men.
