Nearly 3 years after the brutal assault on Pu Vungzagin Valte, the only sitting MLA attacked on 4 May 2023, the system still failed him. His suffering became a symbol of how accountability was postponed until it was too late.

*Subject: Urgent Action Required Against Calvin Aikhenthang for Violating Suspension of Operations (SoO) Ground Rules.*

We are writing to bring to your immediate attention a serious breach of peace.
The individual name Mr. Calvin Aikhenthang, who is a SoO signatory of the Kuki National Organisation (KNO).

On the night of 14th September Mr. Aikhenthang, along with a group of armed individuals, entered Lamka(Churachandpur) District with the clear intent to cause chaos and disrupt the peaceful environment of Lamka Town. This act is a direct and flagrant violation of the terms of the SoO agreement ground rules and poses a significant threat to public safety and order.
This behavior is unacceptable and must be addressed without delay. Such actions undermine the progress made towards peace and stability in the region.

We urge the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Assam Rifles Headquarters to take immediate and decisive action against Calvin Aikhenthang. His actions demonstrate a blatant disregard for the agreement and the well-being of the community. Swift action will help to ensure the continued safety of the residents of Lamka District and reinforce the integrity of the peace process.
