When we discovered irisin in 2012 (Bostrom et al), we described its actions in terms of the browning of the white fat and anti-diabetic effects. Here, in collaboration with the Mathis lab, we re-examine this in mechanistic detail. https://t.co/qDVrwgiGuM
Another great annual retreat goes in the books. Our rule is you cant talk about what you work on, and it was so interesting. Props to the lab techs who each gave a great talk. Rockport is so lovely in the spring!
It is interesting to note, that much of the effects of irisin can be ascribed to the subsequent production of IL-33 by stromal cells within the adipose tissues. We never imagined such a mechanism in 2012! Big congrats to Mu and Gang for these determined efforts.
@LabSaltiel That's a beautiful piece Al. The invention of affinity chromatography was and remains a fundamental tool in biochemistry and molecular biology! RIP to a very important scientist.
Cardiac PGC1a is required for adaptations of the heart to exercise (in mice). A wonderful collaboration with the lab of Tony Rosenzweig. Sumeet is off to start his won lab at UVa (congrats!) https://t.co/gR7B2QuLIt
@ManagerTactical Dude, I enjoy your channel but your hatred of MLS is boring 🥱 were you outraged when players were called up from Belgian or non-big 3 Dutch teams?
The passing Of Dave Mangelsdorf is a terrible loss for his family, friends and the science world. Davo will never be forgotten. 😢 https://t.co/JQzVDG9RWS
