Types of Energy seen during the semester:
Chemical
Kinetic
Thermal/Heat
Potential
Electric
Electromagnetic radiation (light)
Nuclear/Mass
Feel free to answer 1 sentence description of each one let's do a quick review altogether!) :D
#Lesson1#Energytypes
Change our light bulbs!!💡💡 replace them with LED ones bc they use up to 80% less energy than the original lightbulbs. (also cheaper longterm) #phys273#EnergyConservation#lesson2#power
We should speak up about what we know to others about climate change. This is a serious subject and this is a REAL issue!! #climatechange#phys273#lesson11
@LabergeBrooks Also, there's a concept in biology called "The food web efficiency" that states that only 10% of energy is transferred from one trophic level to the next. Essentially, this means that consumption at the top of the food chain (this is where we are) is least efficient.
@TaqiHaque@TA_Andrew_P273@LabergeBrooks Scientists claim that if we go over 2 degree global increase, we will reach a point of no return where it will be effectively impossible to revert back to pre-industrial levels
I'm against this too. It also highly increases the risks of major spills and contamination of the soil and water resource. Many health concerns can arise from these pipelines. I guess it's better from an economist point of view. https://t.co/eGqDfHMun7
This is such a cool way of generating energy, I'm really surprised I haven't thought of it before. We'll have to see how this idea grows #ElectricityGeneration https://t.co/fr0Q1qTD3t
@TaqiHaque Very inspiring! Greenpeace is an independent organization with the objective of protecting the environment in more than 55 countries across the world> I definitely agree with this video, citizens can make almost anything happen if they work together. #Greenpeace
@TA_Andrew_P273@TaqiHaque Exactly mass extinction refers to a large number of species dying out due to a major event. Not sure of the meaning deaceimination you used, however yes it can includes all and any species affected by the event.
@han_boyi I've also read that the particles would have been carried by air currents over the Pacific ocean to the Aleutian Islands which is a chain of volcanic islands in Alaska. Air currents would be the reason for their appearance of these particles in Alaska in this article. #Lesson6
Agreed! The efficiency of a heat engine tells us how much of the input heat energy is turned into useful mechanical work. The best efficiency for a perfect heat engine at the moment is 64% #Lesson6 https://t.co/Qb2OLRcOHF
I’ve heard of that too! It does sound gross, but more ideas and ways of consuming bugs could be developed to make it more approachable in society!! https://t.co/rTGETDJwBM
I wrote an essay last semester about the potential of using bugs as a primary protein source rather than meat. I know it sounds gross to some, but it's quite common around the world and a sustainable source!
It is almost certain that we will be seeing more frequent high temperatures, and less frequent cold temperatures, daily and seasonally, as the global mean surface temperature increases. However, some cold winter extremes will persist as many other extreme events. #Lesson12
