Tesla's new Roadster just jumped a row of 5 Teslas on 10 thrusters and 600 liters of air.
Thursday night. A SpaceX rocket site outside Waco, Texas.
Musk opened with a request to the crowd: "We need an audience to prove that it's not AI."
Then the lights went down.
Stunt 1. A curved ramp, several stories tall.
The Roadster drives up it, goes upside down, and stays there. A fan system underneath pulls 2 G of suction. It launches off the end, flips, and lands on 4 wheels.
"Well, it worked."
Stunt 2. 5 cars parked in a row: a Model Y, a Model 3, a Semi, a Cybertruck, a Cybercab.
The Roadster drives at them at road speed.
10 cold-gas nozzles fire. It lifts, rolls 360° over the Semi's roof, and lands in a cloud of white vapor.
3 seconds.
"I've seen a lot of things. I've never seen that before. We call that the kickflip."
Stunt 3. 0 to 60 in under 1 second.
Every empty space in the car is packed with SpaceX pressure vessels, the same type of tank behind several rocket explosions.
3 versions:
Performance. "Road ready." $50,000 deposit.
Thrust. "Race ready." $250,000 deposit.
Rocket. "Air ready." 1 seat. Invite only.
Over 230 mph. Over 300 miles of range. No price.
Musk said it's "not necessarily safety optimized." Tesla will "aspire not to kill anyone." The next target might be Snake River Canyon.
Production starts in 2028.
This Roadster was first shown in November 2017. Buyers paid $50,000 to reserve it, and the cars were promised for 2020.
9 years later, they saw it fly. They still can't drive it home.
A Chinese tech giant stopped designing offices and started simulating the people in them, and 30% of the desks never got built
Most workplace design ends at a pretty render, a floor plan that looks balanced on screen and turns into a bottleneck the week people move in.
They build the floor in Blender, then run agents through it for a simulated year before a single wall is ordered:
> Model: the floor goes up parametric, every desk and door a value, not a drawing
> Populate: agents are given real roles, schedules and the paths those jobs require
> Run: a year of movement plays out, every collision and queue logged
> Cut: whatever nobody walks to, nobody books, or nobody can reach gets deleted
• What the simulation kept finding
> Meeting rooms booked at 9% while the two beside the kitchen ran at 94%
> A corridor that queued twice a day because two teams shared one exit
> Desks nobody picked, in a zone that looked fine on the plan
• What it changed in the build
> Floor count dropped before the lease was signed, not after
> Rooms got sized to the bookings the simulation predicted, not to a standard
> The layout shipped with the numbers behind every decision attached
A full year of simulated occupancy runs in about 20 minutes.
And the part that broke my brain:
An architecture firm validates a layout by walking you through a render.
This one ran 2,000 simulated days and deleted a third of the furniture.
Same office. One of them finds the bottleneck before people live in it.
The expensive mistake was never the design.
It was building everything the design assumed ↓
@solana@Beezie four cracked the book and honestly remember nothing more than a coffee refill probably work stayed functional to some percentage whatever
