My PhD student, Numfor Linda Bih, from Cameroon, successfully defended her PhD today at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST).
Linda joined the NM-AIST during the COVID-19 outbreak. She had to postpone her studies for about a year because of COVID-19 limitations. I usually say, "Every PhD journey has its unique story."
Linda took her PhD studies in Materials Sciences and Engineering (MaSE) and was funded by the International Center for Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe) under the Partnership for skills in Applied Sciences, Engineering, and Technology (PASET) – Regional Scholarship and Innovation Fund (Rsif).
Over the past four years, Linda has carried out her research on baobab, moringa, and sesame waste materials combined with clay for water and wastewater treatment. She was able to register a patent from her study and published a good research paper detailing her work a week ago.

Join me in congratulating Linda on her achievements.
