I received reviews on one of my NSF proposals. Under Intellectual Merits, one of weaknesses mentioned is using the term “Research Aims” instead of “Research Objectives”. Why is this still a thing? How does that help improve the merits? Anyone else have similar experiences?
Pleasure to host Dr. Owhadi @HoumanOwhadi for a terrific seminar @UCR_MechE on discovering graphical structure and functional relationships within data

“I'd also like to acknowledge my students (…) they've gone on to do many great things.
I'm particularly proud of the fact that one of my students fired Sam Altman.“

New paper I'm extremely proud of: "Extended time, elevated expectations: The unappreciated downsides of pausing the tenure clock". We argue that extensions should be treated as a safety net, not insurance policy (1/6) https://t.co/aofHOFUInl
Wonderful conference @cmbbesymposium and lots of interesting talks and conversations. Special thanks to the organizing committee, esp Drs. Lyndia Wu and Calvin Kuo, for running such a smooth event @lyndiawu1
