An interesting-looking talk at Fearn Abbey tonight. Don't let the fact that the roof fell, killing nearly forty people on October 10th, 1742, put you off.
Here she is: the book cover of my debut novel - isn't she a beaut?? It's 'be gay, do crime' in book form. I had a lot of fun writing this and I hope you'll have a lot of fun reading it. Available to pre-order now from @BirlinnBooks: https://t.co/DMEGsNMGX1 #MaltWhiskyMurders
Before we even consider assisted dying, we should fix society so that disabled people have the care and welfare and whatever else they need to enable them to live life as well as they can. Unless you tackle ableism, assisted dying will be end up being used for nefarious purposes.
Shamefully Labour (with Tory/LibDems support) voted to keep The People’s Story closed.
Thanks to cllrs who voted to reopen. Vote was 6-5.
#Edinburgh Council are not fit for purpose.
We deserve better.
We need change.
We’re only getting started.
@nickunderdown@AonghasMacLeoid@1edmountain This is actually rather refreshing to see - whatever your thoughts on Mr Mountain's politics, and I have plenty, we need more representatives willing to robustly challenge industry.

@HighamSophia@LucyGoBag Completely - I don't disagree. There's depressing number of complaints on the thread that Sure Start was used by people who could afford to pay for it. It's so shortsighted putting barriers in the way of accessing a service whose strength was that it served the whole community.
@HighamSophia@LucyGoBag Sure starts were fab. I wasn't a teen mum, or otherwise vulnerable, but part of the strength of Sure Start was that it was a resource accessed by any and all families, offering new parents an opportunity to form support networks with folk from right across their community.
@JackLovejoy13 @benirishhome @calmeilles@jayforeman@duke_dragon28 Aye, it is, Jamie Stone, and he is a genuinely nice bloke. I don't agree with his politics all the time, but he does care about the area, is visible, responsive, and in my experience is always pleasant and personable when he's out and about.
