Excited to share our new review on the economics of social media. Synthesizing the literature was an interesting challenge, and hopefully provides some useful insights. Mostly I enjoyed working with @PriceTheorist, Lena Song, and Guy Aridor!

The literature on social media has *exploded* recently.
Only in economics, the % of papers in general-interest journals that study social media increased 4-fold in 2015-2022.
In this new paper, we synthesize the empirical literature on the economics of social media.

If you have uneven attrition by treatment status, should you just focus remaining surveying on the group with lower response so far? I share my thoughts on what to do if you have surveyed 87% of T and 77% of C after regular efforts https://t.co/urQugRcHpP
We just finished putting together a panel of Twitter users in each Mexican municipality (2006-2023). Check https://t.co/AZCbjQaypA for the code and data. If you are interested in using and citing the data, please email me so that I can give you a suggested citation since this is part of a bigger project with @annalicasanueva@420regi and @ZagoZaguinho1 . Of course, any tips about similar data so that we can improve ours are more than welcome.
Job market update: we have just been giving the green light to hire a junior slot in Empirical IO @USC_Econ.
We will release the job ad very shortly. Please encourage your students whose primary or secondary field is empirical IO to apply.
