@EmilSutovsky Thanks. You can only contact the shop via the webpage initially. But someone (Chance/your intervention?) just responded and they will ship another one from Kazakhstan which based on past experience will get to me.
@EmilSutovsky Are you able to help/ get someone to sort of the refund. Obviously things aren’t going to make their way from Russia to the UK (I wouldn’t have ordered if it had been disclosed where it was shipping from).
@EmilSutovsky Hello Emil- I ordered one of the signed candidates posters from https://t.co/IrnATFvq7T. Posted from Russia (previous items I ordered came from Kazakhstan, so this was an unpleasant surprise). Never made its way out of Russia according to the tracking and no response on refund.
@zmkc@julianHjessop@GreatBritishTT 1/ National insurance does not exist in Australia to fund a state pension account; 2/ you can draw your super tax free.
I would be more than happy to trade in my state pension for the return of my historic NI contributions and taking my private pension tax free.
@porterstansb Thanks. And the converse of 2/ is that the price paid to Abel for his 1% stake of BHE- post the emergence of the Pacificorp issues- looks more and more like a poorly disguised sign on bonus. Which a stronger board would at least have reined in, if not curtailed. But a v good book!
@porterstansb 3/ BRK could have easily held MCD and bought DQ - he didn’t need to sell to buy(seemed poorer version of MCD whenever I’ve been to US, and I lost a filling eating a blizzard in Jackson Hole once).
Any view on MKL as a pre Berkshire folly proxy? Ventures still small component
@porterstansb I think your book is good, with 3 caveats. 1/ The writing (but not the analysis) looks rushed in places - various points being repeated only a few paragraphs apart. 2/ I think you make too much of the Scott BHE price- sure the Pacificorp issue but also you had forced seller.
@AFCBdave@iAmJoshHunt Are you able to read? It happened 20 years ago. And now I recall my Great Aunt (who had no children) also did this in favour of my dad successfully. So it happened twice.Warren (Buffett) warns against taking financial advice from financial planners, and it’s easy to see why……
@JanetPage23@jayldn100@iAmJoshHunt Best to do a bit of research first. For example, it will take you about 2-3 seconds on Gemini to discover- since you did not know the basics already - it is extremely common practice for the same care home to have local authority funded and private paying patients.
@IJustKnowItAll@iAmJoshHunt Anyone who complains about UK council tax I just point out they are their own jailer. In Ireland on a decent property outside Dublin, you’ll pay about €100. That’s a year, not a month.
@MarkDampier@iAmJoshHunt The law looks at imminence of care home to my understanding. A solicitor set up for my grandma to my dad about a decade before she went into a care home. There were no fees to be paid.
