@DrEricDing My son (2 mnths) in SA received Rotarix, DTaP-IPV-Hib-HBV & PCV. Developed intussuception (which the Merck insert claimed DOES NOT CAUSE IT- since changed to state “may cause it”), hospitalised for a wk with surgery, ADHD, ear infection, learning & language delay, now epilepsy!

What Would Mandela Say?
He walked out
after 27 years behind the concrete veil of prison
not with vengeance,
but with vision.
Not with a sword,
but with the stillness of a mountain.
He bowed to no one,
yet he served everyone.
“I have walked that long road to freedom…”
he said.
And with each step,
he dismantled not only the walls around him,
but the walls inside us.
This was not a man carved from marble.
He was flesh, and flaw, and fire.
Yet he chose
reconciliation over revenge,
humility over hubris,
dialogue over domination.
“If you want to make peace with your enemy,
you must work with your enemy.
Then he becomes your partner.”
What kind of courage does it take
to shake hands with your jailer?
To learn the myths of those who feared you?
To listen, not to win,
but to understand?
Madiba showed us a truth we keep forgetting:
Humanity was not meant
to be at war.
Not with ourselves.
Not with each other.
Not with Mother Earth.
We were meant to be custodians,
not conquerors.
To stand among trees, not above them.
To walk beside the stranger, not through them.
To honour the land, not commodify it.
To remember that Nature
is not our resource
she is our ancestor.
“I am not a saint, unless you think of a saint as a sinner who keeps on trying.”
He taught us
that greatness is not perfection
it is perseverance.
It is the stubborn choice to love
even when hate would be easier.
So what would Mandela say today?
He would look upon the rising tyrants,
the warmongers in tailored suits,
the kings without clothes,
and he would say
“We are at a tipping point."
The choices we make now
will shape generations unborn.
“Power corrupts.
And absolute power corrupts absolutely.”But so does silence.
So does apathy.
So does forgetting.
He would ask us
How do we co-create a world
without hatred, jealousy, or fear?
How do we find inner peace
that sacred precondition for peace between us?
How do we bring back ethics,
and the kind of leadership
that bows not to power,
but to principle?
He would tell us:
The way out is the way in.
To heal the world,
we must first heal ourselves.
On this day in 1918
a lodestar was born.
If we can find just one ember of Mandela in our hearts,
we will walk this Earth without shame or vengeance.
We will rise, not to conquer,
but to serve.
We will remember
that the true revolution
begins in the soul.

We don’t need more emperors.
We don’t need more marionettes
dangling from the strings of unseen elites.
We need gardeners of the future.
Weavers of worlds.
Peacemakers who understand
that the underlying software of our humanity
is not fear,
but unconditional love.

So today, let us honour Mandela
not with statues,
but with soul.
Let us rise, not in conquest,
but in compassion.
Let us walk the long road he once walked.
And when we are weary,
let us remember
the Earth, and each other,
will carry us home.

You never once faltered in your mission. But more exemplary still, you treated those who lied about you and betrayed you with ever-ready grace. Even when the world wasn’t watching. Even when the people who attacked you in public were the ones you loved the most.

You fought for America in the face of fire and falsehoods. Time and again, you endured the vitriol and mud without ever flinging it back from whence it came. You defended our nation’s children without thought of defending yourself.

That rare combination — fierce determination and boundless forgiveness — reminds us that certainty of purpose need not mean smallness of character.

You’ve proven anew the power of grace and grit and service. Of cultivating brotherly and sisterly love, of respectful conversation. Of curiosity and equanimity. Of prayer and obedience to God. Of seeking the truth. Of speaking the truth. And of making space, still, for mischief and humble good humor.

You set out to end our chronic disease epidemic. Along the way, you inadvertently helped heal our national soul.

Congratulations, Bobby. You did it. And more than that, you did it right.
