@PaulHerzberg6@susie_dent It immediately made me think of twirlies too! And West Yorkshire tourist families to the East and North Yorkshire coastline are sometimes referred to as Comfort Kids because, if you ask them, they'll say they've "come for t' day" π
@Yinkster@MolloyLaurence @vanNorden_ @Mike_Batt@susie_dent@richardosman@VictoriaCoren A colleague just said: "It's elves today, pies tomorrow" in shorthand reference to two office Xmas events.
It was chef's kiss & far too good for this NOT to become a figure of speech. As in: "If you think today's fun, just wait until tomorrow!"
Pleeeease help make this happen!
@lauramichelle71@clhubes Similar story. Our son needed surgery on his eye when he was 6. Nil by mouth for 24 hours beforehand. We waited forever to be called down to surgery with him pleading the whole time that he just wanted something to eat. What he remembers? A nurse bringing him a cheese sandwich.
@MatthewLister3 @JamesEFoster@MarinaPurkiss It's all hypocrisy. The Tory gravy train was in a different league entirely and the media weren't bothered. BUT, however minor in comparison & however Starmer tries to justify it, this IS still a gravy train and he's a hypocrite if he doesn't stop it. He can't have it both ways.
Big shout out thanks to the two young women on the inhumanely crowded 2.15pm MCR Victoria to Leeds train today who made me laugh all the while we were standing sardines and looked out for me when I suddenly needed more air and ended up on the floor. Whoever you are - THANK YOU!
@TonyTame@Michael_R_Grant@robertshrimsley Pretty certain that would fall under the "unless there's an emergency" caveat and he'd be there for the COBRA meetings.
"Always available" rather than "always working" is a perfectly reasonable and sensible approach.
@oldenoughtosay@askvirginia@RGibsongirl Have you looked into mat allowance? If you don't qualify for stat mat pay, some circumstances allow you to claim mat allowance from the Gov't rather than get mat pay from your employer. Good luck. And with the petty fence! And for the safe arrival of your baby too, obviously!
@profbradgibson My 10yr old is fascinated with space and physics and, well, science generally! He was just telling me about different parts of an atom and I had no idea what he was talking about! π«£ Are there ever any family events/open lectures or anything at the uni please?
@pandocruises is there a lower age restriction for the Tech Academy on Iona in school hols please? I have a 10 yr old who would love this. Your web copy suggests it might be for old kids, but it doesn't specify.
@AshValeCommuter@Yossari99194539@fesshole They also include emergency contact, rescue and safe repatriation of colleagues in locations hit by terrorism, natural disaster, or other major incidents; corporate travel insurance; systematic billing to save manual expenses processes; data needed for mandatory carbon reporting.
#Budget "Core inflation is now lower than in nearly half of the economies in the EU". AKA we're not even in the top 50%.
"Your Jeremy would have crashed the economy". Casually hoping nobody notices they did exactly this by snarking at Labour for it in the hypothetical.
Clowns.
@IanDunt This feels like ensuring the mass vote goes to Labour so they get the mess while ensuring Tory party donations continue. Then present as a reformed Tory party when Labour inevitably fails the impossible task of fixing 50 years' worth of problems in 5 years. Rinse & repeat.
