utility rates instead because Calgary homeowners pay the utility rates.
This response is complete bullshit and why doesn't @CBCCalgary do some honest reporting for a change rather than always sucking up to @YYCcalgary?
I just heard @CBCCalgary's interview by Brian Labby with the @YYC's General Manager about the huge watermain break on this day last year. When Brian asked him about the impact on Calgary property taxes the GM just said they wouldn't have an impact because they are paid through..2

A desperate man entered the Bangkok Police Station with a knife. Officer Malee deserves credit for convincing us by talking instead of reaching for his gun.

It's a complete disgrace what the Liberal Party has done, the first time in Canadian history that the Prime Minister has never held elected office in Canada.
Question…How can the Governor General swear in a Prime Minister who has not been elected by the public? I understand that Mark Carney is Leader of the Liberal Party but surely he must be elected before taking a seat in Parliament?
Councillor Penner’s insistence that blanket rezoning was NEVER pitched as an affordability issue is contradicted by the literature circulated by the city and in administration’s presentations. They shouldn’t have used “affordability” as a selling feature, but they did.
Councillor Penner is correct that the communication for this massive change to planning & development was not done well.
Additionally, public engagement was token and obviously designed to drive towards predetermined outcomes. It was a grim experience that served mostly to damage trust with Calgarians.
Administration’s arguments in favour of blanket rezoning were weak & do not stand up to scrutiny. Similar rezoning initiatives are being abandoned in other jurisdictions because it fails deliver as promised.
City councillors who ignored the thoughtful, practical feedback from citizens and voted in favour of blanket rezoning must be held accountable .
