Closing ceremony PLHIV Leadership Summit @INERELA_SEC @Yplus_Global leaders fireside discussion “The HIV Leader Now” hosted by @NEPHAKKENYA for @gnpplus. ‘Resilience’ the Buzzword
"We have to work closely with faith-based organizations so that care and faith don't conflict. In schools too, we’ve seen stigma—teachers calling children names based on their medication or HIV status. That kind of discrimination is unacceptable. Compassion and accountability must come first." - Sharlick Akinyi RCO Homabay County. Kenya. #PLHIVLeadersNow
We have now moved into thematic rooms where small groups of participants discuss different themes Here’s what they look like:
Room 1: The essential services package for HIV treatment: Reimagining, adapting and prioritizing for resilient integrated person-centered services for all PLHIV.
Room 2: HIV Epidemic control? Not without investments in HIV prevention; PLHIV making a case for Prioritized, efficient, effective and sustainable HIV prevention at a time of uncertain financing
Room 3: Beyond the pill; Securing social enablers to promote testing, treatment and prevention and save lives
In seasons of uncertainty, being together with communities and advocates in the space is a reminder that our work is not done , but also in whatever our new normal will be we will keep going and fighting for our communities. @gnpplus@AYARHEP_KENYA#HIV@NEPHAKKENYA
The theme of the Summit, "PLHIV leaders now" puts emphasis on redefining leadership in the current reality and new normal that has come about from continuous priority shifts, changes in the HIV response and emerging issues like funding cuts
