Save Lavender Nursery! Merton Council wants to close this vital community asset in southwest London. Help us fight to keep it open! #savelavendernursery
SAVE LAVENDER NURSERY! Sign + share our petition. Oppose @Merton_Council’s shortsighted plan to close it despite recognising “a gap in the market” for early years provision, 220+ objections from local families and criticism from @Siobhain_Mc + @MMLabour https://t.co/aMiG8K8O7v
@cllrallison @Merton_Council @eleanormerton1 Everyone's still angry that @MertonLabour decided to close #SaveLavenderNursery
Another example of NOT listening🙉 to the community, your MP, your fellow ward councillors, your cabinet!
Are you hoping to stand in #LavenderFieldsWard again next year?

Are you now going to listen to your MP, ex-Cabinet Member, #LavenderFieldsWard constituents, 1000+ signatories to the #SaveLavenderNursery petition now then? Scrap the closure of @Lavender_PA nursery. https://t.co/ICtEeWYGHo
@cllrallison @Merton_Council You’re not listening to residents in your own ward!! Cutting affordable childcare places will hit local families far harder than increased parking charges #savelavendernursery
“For every £1 you invest in childcare, you get £2 back… there’s a hard economic argument for investing” spot on @PregnantScrewed. Sad to see @Merton_Council CUT affordable childcare provision while making it harder to access funded places @eleanormerton1 @cllrallison
UK childcare costs are the third most expensive worldwide, with only 16% of the women saying it had not affected their job prospects according to a new poll. @Joeli_Brearley of @pregnantscrewed wants the government to invest more into the sector https://t.co/MWGmW4WTNA
Update: Cabinet ignored pleas from local community. Lavender Nursery to close, making it harder for 100s of families to access affordable childcare. Short-sighted decision by @Merton_Council, a week before major survey finds UK childcare costs financially crippling.
Lavender Nursery’s fate to be decided at today’s Cabinet meeting. Hoping cllrs listen to community: 240 consultation responses (92% oppose closure), 1,000+ petition signatures, @Siobhain_Mc’s full support, majority support from cllrs in surrounding wards #savelavendernursery 💪🤞

Meanwhile the majority of Cabinet / @MertonLabour close down Lavender Nursery (including 100% of @WimbledonLabour who want to ensure that the East/West gap is firmly kept by closing the nursery on the border of 2 of the bottom 3 wards for children living in low income families).
Devastated that Labour councillors have voted to close Lavender Nursery (seemingly in complete agreement with @MertonTories!), stripping the area of a brilliant purpose-built affordable nursery that started life as a Sure Start centre and serves 100s of local families.
@Lavender_PA I am ashamed to be associated with a Council which appears to have voted to close Lavender. It’s vandalism. The local Labour Party and @Siobhain_Mc are opposed. We in the @SocialistEdu local would like to support you on next steps. This is not the end of the road
Our petition now has 500+ signatures! 🙌 A powerful message of support for a fantastic nursery used by 100s of local families #savelavendernursery @eleanormerton1 @cllrallison @Siobhain_Mc@MMLabour
77% Of Parents Say Cost Has Prevented Them Accessing The Childcare They Need |@Merton_Council Please don’t make it harder for local families to access affordable childcare #savelavendernursery @eleanormerton1 @MMLabour
Great support from @Siobhain_Mc 👏Lavender Nursery’s future still in limbo. Parents, staff, community awaiting a decision following @Merton_Council’s last update in early March #savelavendernursery
A brilliant article in @GraziaUK looks at the expensive cost of childcare and why Govt must invest to make sure parents can afford to work. Our research shows the importance of affordable early education for providing flexibility and improving outcomes https://t.co/GfJM4XeSnY
