A4: The concept of #frugalinnovation can lead to simple products that are robust, radically affordable, and meet the unique needs of healthcare workers around the world. Great examples: @GradianHealth's UAM, @SIGNtweeter's intramedullary nails, and Arbutus Medical's @DrillCover
Q4: Innovation changes the UHC landscape every single day. ๐ช๐ต๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐บ๐ฒ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐บ๐ผ๐๐ ๐ถ๐บ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ฟ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ ๐ถ๐ป๐ป๐ผ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ paving the way to UHC? #UHC2Me
Over the past 20 years, noncommunicable diseases have overtaken communicable diseases as the predominant global burden of disease.
Global surgical investment can change the tide, argue @GeoffIbbotson@DVervoort94 @RifatAtun

Delighted to share our Analysis article in the BMJ "Delivering cost effective healthcare through reverse innovation". Learning from LMIC innovation offers such important opportunities. https://t.co/dSHxgMKasi
Happy to share this BMJ podcast (based on our BMJ Analysis on Reverse Innovation) โReversing our preconceptions about where innovation comes fromโ on #SoundCloud#np https://t.co/8HdQWBcLqm
A5: Maybe it's time to really shift the balance of power...let's talk about #teamwork instead of #taskshifting...let's give a voice to local #healthworkers, and to communities themselves... Le pouvoir ne se donne pas; ca s'arrache! #UHC#UHC2Me#SurgeryUHC
A2: for governments serious about #UHC, they must increase budget allocations for health (and expenditures-DRM), increase proportion going to PHC, and develop policy frameworks favorable to private sector engagement run health #uhc2me
We will indeed - Arbutus Medical is proud to have shipped enough product to enable surgery for 45,000 patients and counting. We won't stop until every patient has access to the care they need. Thanks everyone! @Living_Goods@theG4Alliance#uhc#uhc2me
#UHC2Me A2: Essential surgeries cannot be delivered in places where there is a severe lack of space, systems, stuff and staff. We often see this in communities where our services are needed. We think these four areas should be high priority for local governments.
A4: Innovative ways of financing health care should include innovations in payment systems. There are innovative community insurance models in the US and around the world that work! No one should ever have to face #medicalbankruptcy! #uhc2me#UHC#UNGA74
Safe surgery should be included in universal health coverage (UHC). We are passionate about democratizing safe surgery and making it accessible for all by providing radically affordable tools. #UHC2ME#UHC#UNGA74#arbutusmedical https://t.co/knWc62E6lA
At Arbutus Medical we believe every surgeon needs access to safe surgical equipment. We use #frugalinnovation to design and deliver radically affordable orthopaedic devices like the @DrillCover. We're with you all on a mission toward #safesurgeryforall. #UHC2ME
A3: By improving gender competency among #health providers, countries can improve gender equality, empower women and men to make informed decisions, and improve health outcomes. Learn more: https://t.co/fc7dmshMNP

Agree! Innovation will be a big part of our progress toward #UHC. We need more #frugalinnovations designed with #globalhealth in mind to make basic equipment more accessible around the world.
@Living_Goods A2: ๐ฃAs global leaders descend on NYC for the #HLMUHC, they must remember there is no #UHC without R&D. New & improved vaccines, medicines & other #globalhealth tools ๐๐ฌ๐ are critical to achieve quality #UHC2Me#HealthforAll https://t.co/TqIvI4483F
Couldn't agree more! Governments and organizations working towards truly 'universal' #UHC must consider the entire ecosystem from the beginning. I'll add medical technology and technology management/maintenance to this mix!
#UHC2me is all the components that lead to #HealthforAll. From more responsive and local education of #HealthWorkers to better work conditions to compassionate training, care delivery, greater financial support to the #healthsystem - these are all essential to #HealthForAll.
UHC must include access to #safesurgery, and access to safe equipment is a major barrier to care. We need more trained biomedical engineering technicians, more safe surgical devices designed with low-resource settings in mind, and collaboration along the entire value chain.
Q1: UHC is the acronym du jourโeveryone is talking about how to achieve universal health coverage. But, itโs no surprise that thereโs no simple solution. #UHC2Me

Happy first day of #UNGA74. In the lead up to the highly anticipated #HLMUHC next week, we wanted to bring together organizations and minds alike to discuss the question of the next two weeks: What is #UHC2Me? So, welcome! Please introduce yourselves and share your mission.
Safe surgery must be included in universal health coverage! Join us in a Twitter Chat tomorrow, focused on what is #UHC2Me,
from the opportunities and innovations to the challenges and gaps. #UNGA74

Moving talks on conflict and attacks on health worker at @wfsaorg@ICRC@theG4Alliance side event during @WHO#WHA72. @IntraHealth stats show almost 1000 attacks with over 700 healthcare workers injured and 167 killed. How do we change this terrible trend?
