Today was a very special Labor Day for Michigan LCV as it marks the ratification of our first union contract! This historic contract bolsters what our organization has always stood for – respect and dignity on the job for our staff.
We have some great news to share: the eligible workers at Western Watersheds Project @westernworkers have come together to form a union. Our decision to unionize and the voluntary recognition we’ve received are a testament to the strong culture and values of WWP.

We are ready to strike to defend existing protections in our contract, and to fight against anti-union retaliation.
This strike is primarily focused on non-economic issues, including our seven outstanding unfair labor practice charges and defending key provisions in our CBA.
This International Workers' Day, we celebrate the strength and solidarity of the labor movement and our historic year of building worker power across the country – and we renew our call for worker justice around the world. #MayDay

Workers @washingtonpost have been in contract negotiations with our bosses for 18 months.
But the company is refusing to pay us what we’re worth or bargain in good faith.
So on Dec. 7, we’re walking off the job for 24 hours.
UAW president Shawn Fain says this is "a turning point in the class war that's been raging in this country for the past 40 years."
He labeled the union's tentative deal with Ford "a call to action to workers everywhere to organize and fight for a better life."
With a tentative agreement announced between @GM & @UAW, the Big Three are now set to give workers a better share of the profits they've built. This is why organized labor, collective bargaining & the right to strike are essential in protecting & growing our middle class.
