8 June 2026: Israa Djeddou, 19, was shot dead at her home in Barnet, North London. Her boyfriend, Jamie Duncan, 21, was charged with her murder and three counts of possession of a firearm in August 2026, after being located and arrested in Spain.
Why are women victims of domestic abuse, who have offended when in the grip of their abuser, not being given early prison release, when domestic abuse perpetrators are??
The contrast between the press's constant tabloid malice and Harry just giggling with Alison on daytime TV is wild. Give people joy, not manufactured hate! Hammond just showed the entire media landscape how it’s done. Respect, warmth&zero tabloid malice. Take notes

The girls will still have spent more time in trial than the boys likely will spend in detention.
And they had to wait for the excruciating appeal process. And the boys will appeal again.
This is the "improvement" that a broken system can muster.

22 June 2026: Lilly Jones, 14, was found dead in Gwent, South Wales. A 14-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with her murder.
This is the most terrifying speech I’ve heard in my lifetime. America is lost… #DonaldTrump has taken over a sovereign nation and now saying he needs to send more National Guard to keep control of US cities. Do not be deluded…this is dictatorship in broad daylight…
While there’s been some progress made to improve the family courts’ response to domestic abuse, @CommissionerDA’s report shows abuse is still being minimised and the presumption of contact overrides safety.
If we hope to halve VAWG, we must keep pushing for reform.
🚨New figures show smoking is leaving nearly 1 million people in England too unwell to work - a stark reminder of the heavy toll tobacco takes on individuals and society.

📻 Speaking on BBC 3C Radio, Nick Hopkinson, @COPDdoc, shares two simple messages on vaping:
1️⃣ For people who smoke, vaping is far less harmful and a useful quit aid
2️⃣ Children should not vape, and action is needed to protect them
Concerned to read that Warwickshire’s Reform UK council leader wants to weaken domestic abuse checks so “stern dads” aren’t referred to social services.
Screening exists because women and children face the greatest risk at these moments.

4/4 Victims and survivors must be at the heart of the govt’s justice reforms. The VAWG Strategy must include an ambitious plan for investment in specialist domestic abuse services & plans for greater coordination between key agencies and the CJS to manage the risk posed by perps
3/4 This flies in the face of the govt’s commitment to halve VAWG. Plans must be reassessed to ensure that any breach of license conditions linked to further abuse sees perpetrators recalled to prison & kept there until risk has been thoroughly assessed & managed by probation
2/4 Standard recall will be scrapped. Offenders will be re-released automatically after 56 days regardless of whether risk has reduced. As drafted this will include perpetrators of domestic abuse who have breached license conditions to contact and harm victims.
🧵 1/4 Measures in the Sentencing Bill, introduced today, pose a significant safety risk to the lives of victims of domestic abuse and will allow perpetrators to offend with little consequence. https://t.co/6Wp3eCMwIo
Very concerning for survivors who fear breaches and want to know their abuser is being properly managed when serving a community sentence.
With the Sentencing Bill due soon, govt must fund and resource probation so they can cope with the increasing workload and keep people safe.
When your Uncle lives a stones throw from Murrayfield and gets to listen to the @oasis gigs for free in his back garden. Don’t look back in anger sounding amazing. @mainlyoasis#OasisLive25#OasisEdinburgh
