As Hanukkah begins, the world is grieving today’s antisemitic terror attack in Bondi Beach. Our thoughts are with the victims’ families and Toronto’s Jewish community. We stand against hate and terrorism. While there is no nexus to Toronto, the @TorontoPolice have deployed a whole-of-service approach to increase police presence and visibility to Toronto’s Jewish communities including at schools, places of worship, events today and throughout the holidays.
As the Jewish community observes the High Holy Days, we recognize the importance of safety and security.
Over the coming weeks, our officers will increase patrols and maintain a visible presence near synagogues and other places of worship across Toronto.
Command posts will also be established at strategic locations.
We will continue working with our partners to ensure our communities are safe and feel safe.
Nearly all major crime indicators in Toronto are down in 2025, but distraction-style thefts are on the rise. That’s why we’re increasing our efforts to arrest and charge those responsible.
Protect yourself and your belongings by staying aware of your surroundings, and always keeping your valuables close to your body.
