Happy Online Learning Day People! While it's easy to be cynical about online learning it does have enormous potential to improve access to learning.
Aslo there really is a day for everything!

Do you agree with @bobbyhollywood and friends that it is a great time to be in L&D? Is L&D really better, more appealing or rewarding now than it was in the past?

This from 4 years ago when being inspired by Netflix did necessary mean wanting to be a "Netflix of Learning". What industries or organisations should we in L&D be inspired by in 2022?

Interesting piece suggesting that for impact virtual beats in-person training events. Worth a read, even if I think, and as they acknowledge later in the piece, they are actually identifying the value of spreading learning out vs. a single intervention.

@SeanBrownHRTech Enjoyed this, I felt that your advice to move around early in your career had a lot of value. I am not early in my career, but recently changed industries, now wish I had moved around more previously.
@qomenius Doesn't it really depend on the intent and the circumstances? Sometimes Storytelling would be the better option, sometimes it wouldn't. That doesn't make it any less valid as a way to form connections, especially within and with groups.
@qomenius Firstly, thanks for describing me, and anyone else who believes in Storytelling as a tool for sharing and connection, as a manipulator. Secondly, isn't the same true of conversation and dialogue, a manipulator would claim they were the authentic forms of connection.
Interesting perspective on Micro-Learning. Seems harsh after all a lot of what #learningdevelopment folks do is about supporting performance! Micro-Learning can be right intervention even if it doesn't produce the "kind" of person you think you want.
@qomenius@pattishank@elearnindustry Okay I will bite, what are "real challenges"? If we are ruling out out mundane things like helping people to do their job, get paid and have less stress.
@qomenius@pattishank@elearnindustry As an example of where I think it fits, I am currently developing training for a SalesForce launch, an element of it will be what I think of as "micro-learning". Supporting new users to complete required processes with in-context material.
@qomenius The performance thing is a fair question, it may depend on how you define "Mirco-Learning. I found this article by @pattishank for @elearnindustry from 2018 balanced, interesting and well referenced.
