OFFICIAL: HUMAN RIGHTS ARE FOR BIG FREEHOLDERS ONLY
The High Court has rejected an application by the Free Leaseholders’ coalition to intervene in the judicial review brought by wealthy vested interests seeking to torpedo the Leasehold and Freehold Reform Act 2024.
The Court criticised us for taking too long putting our case together and for having no money.
But it takes months to persuade lawyers to act for you for free.
We even enlisted @michaelgove, the former Secretary of State who initiated and championed this legislation. The Court didn’t want to hear from him.
There will not be a single leaseholder voice at the hearing in July.
Instead, wealthy freeholders will be free to argue against a law passed by a democratically elected government and a sovereign Parliament.
Where’s the fairness and human rights in that?
Leasehold is institutionalised inequality.
It was always going to be a tall order to get leaseholder voices participating in the judicial review hearing in July.
The judge rejected both intervener applications from leaseholder interests.
But we keep fighting! It’s not over!
@elonmusk Ukrainians have done nothing wrong, too. But alas, you're backing a sociopathic imperialistic russian regime and your best pal putka. #hypocrite
@MartinSLewis An estimated collective Cladding bill of £1.8mln. About £20,000. Thankfully, I only paid out just over £10,000. Waking watch bills of £600/month were also not fun. Absolute disgrace these bills were passed on to innocent leaseholders like me.
🚨 The government has just BLOCKED the release of the results of the ground rent consultation.
@UKLabour urged leaseholders to engage with it when in opposition – now they’re in charge, they’re burying the results.

😡GOVERNMENT BLOCKS FOI REQUEST BECAUSE OF NEED FOR ‘SAFE SPACE’😡
What is the point of participating in yet more consultations when @UKLabour refuses to publish the results of the last one?!
The system feels rigged to favour deep-pocketed vested interests.
Why should the UKs builders including @TaylorWimpey with a 77% life endangering rate in blocks of flats not fully remediate your building?
Why are they allowed to pass the permanently high insurance risk onto you by leaving banned combustibles on your buildings?
We need a new approach, we need the Earl of Lytton's https://t.co/6mb7YFFJ5B consumer protection which will make them remediate fully.
@AlexJJNorris@mtpennycook@AngelaRayner@TedBaillieu@formerCEOciob
Why is @rach_hopkins asking for "flexibility of payments" for leaseholders in bldg under 11 m?
Surely Ms Hopkins you know these leaseholders are innocent.
Why should they pay for failures of govt & industry?
Is punishing victims of the #BuildingSafetyCrisis Labour policy now?
👀 MP asks the Govt whether they have plans to review the accuracy of EWS1 assessments where a fire engineer has been *suspended* by a professional fire engineering body.

This is the Building Safety Minister's answer.
Nothing to see here.
Such noble words @michaelgove!
"We reformed the rules to ensure leaseholders didn’t have to pay for the faults in their buildings which they never caused."..This man is an abject liar.
Just ask @NonQualifyingLH. You have to wonder why @HarryYorke1 didn't.
#BuildingSafetyCrisis
A "24 hour security service" to support "floor walks". Is that what the #WakingWatchScam is being called now @NFCC_FireChiefs?
How is that going to prevent the building falling down in the event of fire?
More unbearable waste of money to cover @mhclg & @NFCC_FireChiefs backsides
Translation:The next govt will need to continue giving us(@HomeBuildersFed members)huge taxpayer funded subsidies so that we can continue to make billions in profit while building dangerous homes&selling them to the unsuspecting public for eye watering sums

WRITE, TWEET your candidates for election TODAY, to ask what they will do for you if elected, to solve the #BuildingSafetyCrisis & protect you.
I got this response after continually asking on social media, if I can do it, so can YOU!

Quite something when the @Conservatives candidate for #Bromley@PeterTFortune talks about appropriate family homes but refuses to visit or engage with the 57 families in @Northpoint20 whose lives have been ruined by the #BuildingSafetyCrisis.
A bit rich coming from someone who appears to have had his own flats affected by the #BuildingSafetyCrisis fixed by his developer, while repeatedly voting to force innocent leaseholders to pay for the failings & potential criminality of DLUHC & the construction industry.
Shocking story.
£600m of YOUR money.
To build a factory in ANTWERP.
For a close mate of the CONSERVATIVES.
Who will import massive amounts of CLIMATE DESTROYING FOSSIL FUELS onto our doorstep.
To make massive amounts of NATURE DESTROYING PLASTICS.
