The completion of the Kendu Bay Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) Market marks a major milestone in the Government's broader efforts to reawaken the economic potential of Kendu Bay, a once vibrant lakeside trading hub whose prominence gradually declined over the years due to neglect and inadequate infrastructure.
The modern market, whose construction began in May 2024, is now complete, awaiting inspection and commissioning.
Designed to support dignified and organized trade, the storeyed facility features over 200 modern stalls, a fish preservation cold room to support the blue economy, an ICT hub, social amenities including a lactating room and children’s play area, as well as modern sanitation facilities aimed at improving hygiene and the overall trading environment.
As the project transitions into operationalization, the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration continues to coordinate local administrative structures and security preparedness to ensure smooth occupation, orderly operations and a safe business environment for traders and residents.
Congratulations to the passionate minds joining our Wildlife Research and Training Institute @WRTIKenya .

Reimagining our tourism landscape requires strong collective effort.
I had a productive engagement with the Nyandarua ACK Diocese Diaspora Professionals where we discussed collaborative frameworks to spotlight Nyandarua’s unique heritage and eco-tourism gems, ensuring local communities directly benefit from this growth.
Our focus remains on unlocking the region's immense potential through sustainable tourism corridors, eco-tourism initiatives, and infrastructure development.
Together, we are building a vibrant, inclusive tourism economy.

As we mark World Environment Day 2026 under the theme, 'Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future,' we reaffirm our commitment to environmental stewardship and climate action for present and future generations.
Through initiatives such as the Chiefs' Climate Action Day, a monthly event spearheaded by National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs), communities across the country continue to play a vital role in restoring ecosystems and advancing sustainable development.
These efforts complement H.E. President William Ruto's campaign to grow 15 billion trees by 2033, a transformative undertaking aimed at enhancing forest cover, mitigating climate change and securing a greener future for Kenya.
Let us all remain inspired by nature and united in action to protect our environment for the benefit of generations to come.
On this world environment day, we are reminded that nature-based solutions are irreplaceable economic assets. In the tourism and wildlife sector, ecological wellbeing directly delivers livelihoods to millions with wildlife driving 70% of our tourism.
As a close partner to our sister @Environment_Ke , we remain committed to protecting the migratory routes, community forests, and watersheds that sustain our iconic species. When we protect nature, we protect the livelihoods of millions.
By expanding canopy cover and protecting watersheds, we are saving biodiversity and securing our economic future. When wildlife economies thrive, communities become the vigilant guardians our ecosystems need!
Happy Environment Day🇰🇪

We have concluded our three-day tour of Wajir and Garissa counties, reaffirming our commitment to ending the historical marginalisation of Northern Kenya through sustained investment in development programmes and infrastructure.
We thank the people of Wajir and Garissa for their warm hospitality, support, and engagement throughout the tour. Together, we will continue working to unlock the immense potential of Northern Kenya and ensure that no region is left behind in our country's transformation journey.
Inspected progress on the 257km Lamu-Ijara-Garissa Road, part of the 453km LAPSSET Corridor Development Project.
The KSh17.9 billion project is scheduled for completion early next year and will provide an alternative transport corridor, support regional integration, improve security, and provide an evacuation route at Lamu Port.
2-KM Banisa Town Roads project in Mandera County is now substantially complete, improving mobility, reducing dust, and enhancing access to markets, schools, and health facilities!
The project is set to boost local economic activity and road safety in Banisa town!

Infrastructure that connects people also connects dreams, and the ongoing construction of the Lichota Passenger Terminal at the Lichota Airstrip, Migori County, underscores the importance of modern transport infrastructure as Kenya advances into a globally competitive economy, opening up counties to faster movement of people, trade, investment and opportunity beyond geographical limitations.
Managed by the Kenya Airports Authority (@KenyaAirports), the modernization project is transforming the facility from older shed-like waiting areas into a modern Class B international standard terminal designed to handle up to 500,000 passengers annually.
The project also introduces Customs and Immigration facilities for direct regional connectivity to neighbouring countries, separate domestic and international passenger processing zones and integration with the expanded 2-kilometre runway capable of accommodating larger commercial aircraft.
It is also expected to stimulate local commerce, attract investment, strengthen cross-border trade and unlock tourism potential within Migori County and the wider region.
The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration continues to play a critical role in the implementation and eventual management coordination of the facility, particularly in strengthening the security of entry and exit points, supporting border control operations and ensuring safe and efficient movement of passengers and goods.
The Mamboleo–Miwani–Chemelil–Muhoroni–Kipsitet Road (C674) is a transformative 122-kilometre corridor linking Kisumu, Nandi and Kericho counties, reinforcing regional connectivity across the Western Kenya sugar belt, with oversight and implementation undertaken by the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA).
The corridor is engineered to a dense bitumen macadam standard designed to support heavy commercial traffic, particularly servicing the Miwani, Chemelil and Muhoroni sugar factories.
Its industrial logistics function is therefore central to lowering transport costs and improving efficiency in the movement of cane, refined sugar and related goods.
In addition, the highway is designed to operate as a major bypass, diverting long-distance trucks between Nairobi and Western Kenya away from Ahero, significantly decongesting Kisumu City.
It also resolves existing bottlenecks along alternative routes such as Awasi, thereby reducing travel time, fuel consumption and vehicle wear and tear.
On the implementation and operational safety front, the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration is supporting inter-agency coordination to ensure smooth execution, security of works and enforcement of traffic management measures along the corridor.
