@ian_10_19@rattmartin Yea you never know how real rumors are tho, if the blues have to sell low, then hopefully Aitcheson wouldn’t have to be in the deal, but Darche doesn’t seem to want to give up any of the prospects so at that points it’s not happening
@marknagel22@IslesFix The thing is, if you trade him, you are never going to get equal talent back. We should be trying to add talent, not trading it. I just don’t get the rationale if they do trade him. What’s the plan at that point?
@marknagel22@IslesFix They are in a weird spot, bc you don’t want to waste Schaefers young years, but you aren’t currently in a window to win. So you can either go out and try to acquire some talent or try and wait a couple years
@marknagel22@IslesFix I’m fine with using the pick, I liked the flexibility of 2 picks, being able to deal 1 in a package, and still using the other. I do agree a few years down the road they will be better, I just know they will be a slog to watch next yr with the men acquired and have currently
@marknagel22@IslesFix To me, if there is a guy out there that fits the long term model of the team, then I don’t think you should worry about dealing a top prospect for them. Theyre the 12th ranked farm, trading one for a established talent doesn’t hurt them too bad imo
@marknagel22@IslesFix Exactly, and that’s where it gets tough because on the isles he’s probably being asked to do more than what he would on a better team. I’ll take what he’s done at age25, but we are all like “he needs to take the next step” bc we know the isles are lacking top end talent.
@marknagel22@IslesFix I think you can handle contracts to the right player if it’s available, you can argue Larkin isn’t the right guy but he would certainly be better than what they have. They don’t have the assets to get him, I get that, but they certainly need a player that can score 30+
@marknagel22@IslesFix I don’t think his point totals reflect how good he was towards the end of the year, I hope he takes another step. He can be frustrating but he’s certainly better than what a lot of people give him credit for. Hes probably the 3rd best forward with the lack of talent they have
@marknagel22@IslesFix Exactly, the only way isles get talent is via trade. So to me they have to set themselves up to be able to land a guy like they did with Horvat. We know guys who we don’t expect become available, they have to be in a spot with Picks/Prospects to capitalize on that.
@marknagel22@IslesFix I’d rather have a first instead of Schenn, to be able to have ammo to get talent through the door. I get Schenn/Palat won’t hurt them long term. I just wish I wouldn’t have to watch an old slow team anymore. It gets tiring watching a plodding team like this year after year
@marknagel22@IslesFix If you look at anytime that made the playoffs, they all have far more talent than the isles. My point is, at some point, they HAVE to get talent through the door, they can’t keep plodding out 10 Middle Six forwards. They have to find a way to get elite talent into the org.
