There are so many exciting improvements coming to Lincoln Square.

First, the Leland Greenway will be built this year.

Leland near Lincoln is slated to get a protected bike lane, as well as street treatment that will make the area safer and more walkable.

Grace Shambrook was 3. She was killed for a few reasons but her mom's riding skill wasn't one of them. She died because a truck driver parked in a bike lane; because a driver, who drove a semi on a quiet street, didn't see her mom; because CPD and city leaders don't care enough.

It breaks my heart that this happened on what should be a lovely, stress-free, route, but instead is a half-assed excuse of a greenway because CDOT and elected officials lack vision or an ounce of willingness to go against the status quo.

@MilwaukeeAvBike @ChicagoDOT None taken. It would be great if I could offer people a genuinely safe and enjoyable experience, but all I have to work with are the often pummeled barrels @ChicagoDOT decided were adequate.
