‼️‼️BREAKING: New Genocide Case against Germany

#Nicaragua today filed an application at the @CIJ_ICJ against #Germany concerning violations of the Genocide Convention, the Geneva Conventions and its Additional Protocols, intransgressible principles of international humanitarian law and other peremptory norms of general international law in relation to the Occupied Palestinian Territory, particularly the Gaza Strip.

In its application, Nicaragua argues, inter alia, that, by providing political, financial and military support to Israel and by cutting off assistance to @UNRWA , Germany is violating its obligation to prevent genocide, not to aid and assist or be complicit in genocide, and to ensure respect for international humanitarian law and other peremptory norms of international law (including the prohibition of apartheid and the right to self-determination).

Note: The case is not limited to violations of the Genocide Convention. Nicaragua bases the Court's jurisdiction both on Article IX of the Genocide Convention and on the two countries' optional clause declarations under Article 36(2) ICJ Statute.
