Very honoured to attend the First Plenary of the 2026 Argentinian Presidency of @TheIHRA.
With rising antisemitism, and Holocaust denial and distortion around the world, and with the last survivors of the Holocaust leaving us, the work of the IHRA is becoming even more relevant.
Honored to meet for a wide-ranging discussion with @JMilei—a true champion for Jewish communities in Argentina and globally. I congratulate Argentina for its historic @TheIHRA presidency. As antisemitism surges globally, you are a model for the hemisphere and the world.
I had the great honour to address the students of the Greek Diplomatic Academy, in the residency of the Ambassador of @GreeceInGeneva, to discuss the history of the Jews in Greece, the rise of antisemitism, Mideast developments, and the work and structure of @WorldJewishCong.
Hatred directed against one faith community is a threat to every faith community.
The attack unfolding at the Islamic Center in San Diego is not only an act of terror against Muslims, but an assault on the fundamental right of all people to practice their faith openly, safely, and without fear.
Jewish communities around the world stand in solidarity with the victims, their families, and all those impacted by the scourge of violent extremism.
WJC’s Special Envoys and Coordinators Combating Antisemitism Forum met in Geneva 🇨🇭 during the WJC Governing Board - at a critical moment for Jewish security. 🙏 We thank them for their commitment to bringing national and multinational tools and responses for protecting Jewish life.
Since October 7, 2023, Jewish communities are facing a major crisis.
Through SECCA, we are addressing it directly:
▫️ How geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and international debates spill over into Jewish life and negatively impact Jewish communities.
▫️ How Jewish communities can – and must - shape their respective countries’ national responses to antisemitism through direct engagement with their governments.
▫️ Combating antisemitism specifically in North and South America through regional cooperation.
▫️ The role of multilateral institutions such as the UN.

Normalised #antisemitism is a direct threat to democracy & whole of gov is needed to counter it. @EU_Commission's framework ensures coordination of actions at all levels, including globally.
#SECCA adopted today a clear #Statement#AgainstAntisemitism:

Antisemitism is no longer a marginal phenomenon.
With Jewish community leaders in Geneva for the WJC Governing Board, 32 Special Envoys and Coordinators Combating Antisemitism in attendance issued a unified declaration reaffirming a shared commitment to protect Jewish life and confront antisemitism in all its forms.
Among the signatories are representatives from the 🇺🇸United States, 🇪🇺European nations, 🇦🇺Australia, 🇨🇦Canada, @OAS_official, @OSCE, and the @EU_Commission
Despite political differences, democratic nations remain united in the understanding that antisemitism cannot be tolerated.

Israel’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva @AmbMeron hosted WJC leaders from Jewish communities across dozens of countries for a warm evening at his residence.
No matter where we come from, what language we speak, or the challenges we face, the bond between the Jewish people and the Israel will never be broken. In moments like these, it is important to come together and remember what unites us.

Celebrating World Portuguese Language Day, 8th most spoken language in the world, together with the Ambassadors of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries--Angola, Brazil, Cabo Verde, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, @PTMissionGeneva , Sao Tome e Principe and Timor-Leste.
I had the great chance to take part at a workshop at Arolsen Archives, created in the aftermath of WWII to help locate missing persons and document the fate of victims of Nazi persecution; holding tens of millions of documents relating to approximately 17.5 million individuals.
A meaningful celebration at the UN Assembly Hall in Geneva to mark International Day of Vesak, which marks the birthday of the Buddha, organized by the Missions of Sri Lanka & Thailand, which included speeches by countries with Buddhist populations and group and silent mediations
I was honoured to participate at the concluding conference of the EU-funded DECONSTRUCT project, which aims to counter Holocaust distortion, an emerging form of antisemitism and anti-democratic behaviour. I stressed the new realities after October 7, and role of education.
While in Budapest, I had the chance to experience the "If These Could Talk" project, which uses augmented reality to guide you in the streets of the city's Jewish neighbourhood today, where the past stories also emerge and intertwine with today's landscape.
