My Name is Clive Lever. I'm a former Equality Adviser. I'm still passionate about accessibility and inclusion. I love my wife, cats, comedy, radio and Music.
@ProfHine@ManKindInit @MBCoalition 1. Supporting the idea of an ending violence against men and boys strategy isn't at the expense of women, but it's too often mistaken for such. 2. the support a victim gets should depend on what's happened to them, not on a set of chromosomes.
@ManKindInit It is imperative that there are more forums in mainstream media, including public service broadcasting, where men's issues can be explored fairly and seriously, withough fear of the explorers being branded as 'far right' and so on.
@FNF_Media @ManKindInit@erin_pizzey I second that. Erin is one of a few people I would love to meet, just because their achievements have been so inspirational. Many congratulations, Erin.
@ManKindInit I saw a man upon the Stair. I Looked Again, he wasn't there. He Wasn't there again today. I wish that man would go away. (Truth is more concerning than fiction)
@FNF_Media @ManKindInit@ProfHine@MoJGovUK I had qualms about the 'His Daughter' slant, it's an interesting read. Such research might put paid to the myth that #PA is always an excuse for male abusers to continue abusing. Sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't and that's all there is to it, Piglet!
@NikGrahamKevan With the increasing use of flat screen card readers, no good for blind people, and the increasing frequency of security checks on contactless by PIn, I feel pressure to use more cash ad to use less cash at the same time.
@NikGrahamKevan A minister and department for women and equalities without a minister for men is by definition a department for inequality. People deserve support because of what happens to them, not according to chromosomes.
@PhilMitchell83 All too often, women get justice where men would get judgement; Women get sympathy where men would get censure. In truth, all victims deserve compassion regardless of who they are.
@NikGrahamKevan This is a powerful argument for a minister for men's affairs, and for at least one 'men's hour' on radio 4. This relentless minimising of men's needs and suffering should have been stopped long ago.
@RichardvReeves@ManKindInit@Martha_Gill I wish people wouldn't see this as a men versus women issue, and instead see that different issues affect genders adversely in different ways. Who said that society affords men privilege on grounds of status, women on grounds of protection?
@MBCoalition @ManKindInit@UKStatsAuth@MayorofLondon@MOPACLdn Not least male victims are at risk because clever controlling abusers may use the presumption of a man's guilt as a weabpon of abuse: "If...I shall report you, and the authorities will believe me over you because I'm the woman. That'll ruin your life..."
@ManKindInit@EdThomasNews@BBCNews That's exactly what I thought when I heard the story on the Today Programme this morning. I knew instantly what would do with it. I can't see into the future, but I was right...sadly.@BBCWomansHour
@AlexChalkChelt@ManKindInit I can't help but wonder how many more people out there are suffering similar inhumane injustices to those Andrew went through.
@jenjillharman @ManKindInit It's time we had a regular programme on R4 to complement Woman's Hour, and one on ITV to complement Loose women, because in-depth discussions in the mainstream media about non-fiminist gender issues are all too rare.
@TheJeremy Vine following your piece on scalextrics, have you checked out half Man Half Buscuit's "All I Want For Christmas Is A Dukla Prague Away Kit". perhaps your problem in the studio was 'a dodgy transformer'.
As a male domestic abuse survivor it is encouraging to see @Springfield1915 domestic abuse support in the South Lakes area of Cumbria has "...officially changed its charity's objective to include MEN..." @ManKindInit Read the article & the green display. https://t.co/30EkaNQ6J9
@MensAidIreland@ManKindInit Almost needless to say, you can get help if the abuse comes from a sibling or a grown-up daughter or son. It's not the relationship within the family that entitles you to support. It's what you're putting up with.
@AdrianJohnNo1 @DUSaveDave@PhilMitchell83@ManKindInit BTW, nice to see you back on here Adrian. Sadly though, Twitter's killing of third party software means that the apps I previously used to make Twitter more usable with speech for blind people have been rendered useless in the past few weeks. Grrrr!
1. @DUSaveDave@PhilMitchell83 Please share. R4 Afternoon play today: Livelines (S6E1) by Al Smith: One of the calls is from a man abused by his 20-year-old daughter. It signposts to @MankindInit and Men's Advice Line. https://t.co/6Eoyd51p3K
