@msmeaghanb@DavePunFun This isn't a "private home". It's a business, disguised as a house. It sleeps 12, how many "homes" do you know that sleep 12? And charging the equivalent of half a month's rent/mortgage for literally 2 nights? These people know damn well what they're doing.
@TammyBergom@HelenaRegina33@BartemyS@naomirwolf Correct, I don't know your experience. I do appreciate you adding on "loving mom". Your initial reply to person above did not read like that.
@OttSchoolBus Please reconsider. 5:10 AM is too early to make the call. The wind is crazy. The buses will fishtail. You need to reconsider and re-assess.
@MikeJToronto @Anniekidder @PeopleforEd @OSTAAECO I understand the sentiment. Elementary classes are not streamed, nor should they be, however this issue on class sizes is pertinent there too. Best of luck, because at this point, no matter how prepared you are, or great of a T, it's down to luck your group is well-balanced!
@78Bills@Teachers__Unite They actually did picket in December, January and February, in -30 degrees, -40 windchill, back in 2019-2020. I wouldn't be surprised if they did again.
@losthope4you@WendyGoodes You mean just like when they capped the raises at 1% and were found to be in the wrong and now have to pay back some retro from that issue? I doubt it. And being essential/no strike allowed = higher base pay anyway.
@PaulGBrandon@Mr_S_Ont@MikeJToronto@teach_n_travel Usually they have a "me too" clause. Unsure about the osstf situation this time w binding arbitration, however it's pretty much a guarantee oecta, aefo, etfo will between themselves. Previously, oecta folds first and leaves etfo to fight, then they get whatever etfo got.
@burninator69420@Teachers__Unite You so realize they voted all over the province? Just because there weren't many during the time those pictures were taken, it doesn't mean that other locations had low engagement/voters.
@Roman_ABK @MikeJToronto Highest salary in Ottawa, 2014 : 94 649. Equivalent in 2023: 119 497.1. The current highest salary: 103 001. Equivalent of 2023 rate back in 2014 would be 81 600. That's just base inflation. The pay increases haven't even remotely kept up. 8.11% over 9yrs but inflation OVER 25%?!
@MikeJToronto @Roman_ABK @fordnation If I recall correctly, a couple of years ago, before the insane inflation, teachers' purchasing power was down 30%. That's 30% less buying, investing, which in turn means less employment in retail/service/production industries and so on. The economy is circular.
