The images completely ignore that witchcraft is a real thing, that real people partake in. They completely miss that not only is this a real group, but also a very diverse one as the images that are not green are white women ... where did all the other practitioners go? #ccom315
I've even been working on a research paper for my capstone course that is entirely centered around the efficacy of environmental activism on social media! When combined with real-life activism, social media can be an incredible tool for activists 2/3
That super awkward moment when you just find out that your thoughts from #315WeekEight never posted... What I wanted to say then is that I find social media activism super helpful for movements. It can keep them alive, it can draw more attention, and so on. 1/3
Whether it be finding entertainment or keeping up with trends Ive always found it a great way to keep connected with people without being socially exhausted. So yeah I think the benefits outweigh the negatives of the always on lifestyle! 3/3 #315WeekTwelve
I've sorta said this earilier, but being always-on and living a public life affects me a bit differently, since I've always been more of a lurker than an active participant. But that also doesnt mean that I havent found my own ways to enjoy social media. 1/3 #315WeekTwelve
One of the best ways that I can connect with my friends is to share little pockets I find interesting. One of my friends only 'speaks' to me when we send TikToks back and forth. I've always found plenty of enjoyment from lurking. 2/3
Or in this case, tweeting while listening to a bunch of nerdy-ass voice actors play DND. Even though I feel always on when I think about it, it's such a normal part of my life I don't feel drowned by it. #315WeekTwelve 2/2
No matter how much I'd like to think I'm not participating in the always-on lifestyle... I totally am. I am totally guilty of the dual-media multitasking whether it be one non-socialmedia and one social media thing or two social medias. 1/2
It's that time again to welcome my latest post to the Short Girl in a Big World blog! Don't mind my squishiness around the subject ... #blog#ccom315

On the rare occasion that I *don't* suffer complete laziness, when confronted with news and social media information, I try to both find other sources and fact-check the reliability of the article I read 2/2

As an environmental scientist by education, thinking about my own biases is practically a part time job. Whether it is my cultural views or otherwise, its difficult not to think about it in my daily life. 1/2
I'm just gonna say it ... fake news really became a thing for me during and after the 2016 US election ... The orange and his "alternative facts" are usually where my brain goes when we talk about mis/disinformation and fake news #315fakenews
What I can't really see is how this is a class division ... plenty of doctors can't work remotely for example. To me it seemed a bit dramatic to say that it completely stratifies the classes in such a pressing way... #ccom315#315WeekSix
I'm totally on board with partial or full-time remote work. One of the only things I liked that came as a result of the pandemic was that people realized that they can work from home! I spent more time with my dad then I ever would have been able.
PAY THIS GIRL. Like as soon as she was creating enough consistent traction buzzfeed should've given her like a freelance position so she could see at least some of the profit here #315WeekSix
I just watched a few interviews with Rachel McMahon, a former buzzfeed quiz maker, and it's absolutely insane to think that she could've missed out on a pretty lucrative internet career, all because of a businesses greed.
I've never been a big supporter of buzzfeed, I watched a few shady practices unfold, but knowing that this young adult could've had a real career take off from just following a hobby is insane. She really got used up for the corporation.
