The bulk of time and money wasted in the advertising industry can be traced to revising things according to personal preference instead of for public effectiveness.
I'm sorry, but it needs to be said from time to time - Forbes Councils are PAID - not earned - media.
"We are getting the feeling that the Forbes Council is a scheme and scam"
Why Forbes Councils aren't going to make you a thought leader

When I'm honest with potential PR clients about not "guaranteeing" media coverage, I may lose some opportunities.
But I'd rather be truthful upfront than promising something NO ONE can guarantee.
Guaranteed coverage = paid media.

Dear clients: *THIS* is how long it takes to do due diligence and find the right reporter. A strategic approach to outreach is necessary, or we're at risk of getting repeatedly getting ignored or even blocked by reporters. #PublicRelations
RULE 2:
If you didn't research what you're pitching + who your pitching for at least 3 hours, you didn't research enough 👩💻
Without insider relationships at publications, landing placements depends on your ability to connect journalists to stories they actually care about.

Please don't ask to "pick your brain." It's such a gross phrase.
- May I ask your advice?
- Can you spare a few minutes?
- I need a bit of help. Is that workable for you?
- Can I borrow you for a few minutes?
Really. Just find another way to make the ask.
Strategic PR is slow PR. I know, it doesn't sound fun or sexy.
But more things that work usually aren't.
Build your media list one journalist at a time.
Pitch one journalist at a time.
Connect with the journalist before pitching them.
I have a 26-email thread with 1 PR rep for a brand that sent me snacks months ago. I have told this person repeatedly that I will reach out if the snacks are ever a fit for a story. Sorry PR folks, sometimes persistence is not the best policy.
Remember that journalists are looking for quality sources that bring fresh perspectives to their stories.
Be a resource for them, not just a self-promoting PR representative.
