Col. Nochi Mendel, who ordered three Israeli drone strikes on the WCK convoy in Gaza in April 2024, defended his decision to Australia’s ABC after being removed from his post over serious failures and breaches of procedure.

Mendel claimed WCK had “ties to Hamas” and was “not really… innocent,” although he acknowledged he did not know of those alleged links when he ordered the attack.

Israel last week declined to pursue a criminal investigation against the commander.
