The Penobscot Nations Tribal Ambassador Maulian Bryant authored an op-ed opposing the project: “The Katahdin region is no place for a mine. Katahdin is the most sacred place in our homeland — the birthplace of our ancestors.”
Today, we remember and celebrate the life of Trayvon Martin on what would have been his 29th birthday.
He should be here celebrating with his loved ones.
We will continue to fight for #policeaccountability, #justice, and equal protection in his honor.
The chances for real progress at COP28 were badly damaged early this year when an oil company CEO was appointed to lead the negotiations. And now investigative journalists have confirmed some of the worst fears of those who criticized that absurd appointment with the shocking news that the President-designate has been using the meetings he has set up with nations around the world to sell more oil and gas. At the same time, the fossil fuel company he leads (the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company) has been preparing to launch one of the largest expansions of oil and gas production of any company in the world — timed to begin immediately after COP28 concludes.
Using international climate talks as leverage to shore up support for pumping more oil and gas at a time when we urgently need to phase out fossil fuels is — to say the least — utterly appalling.
A crackdown on "radical feminist ideology" in Russia - the part that got me was women panic buying contraceptives - we already did that here in the US. A reminder that this isn't as far away as we might think... Russian Women Get Warning About Rights https://t.co/Q2x11yW8Pd

Earlier this year, over 5 million people signed petitions to stop ConocoPhillips’ Willow oil project in Alaska. They can see the facts. That Willow would be catastrophic for the climate. We will not drop our challenge in court. And we intend to appeal. https://t.co/fEachxHqvU
A week from now, Gavin Newsom’s appointees on the California Public Utilities Commission may vote to slash rooftop solar incentives for renters.
Does anything about that make sense?

Just a year after Mahsa Amini died in the hands of Iran's "morality police," sparking nationwide protests, they seem to be at it again. A 16-year-old girl in Tehran is hospitalized in a coma after an encounter with the morality policy. https://t.co/6h4X3gc45R
The past few months in New York have included smoke-filled skies and dangerous air quality, unprecedented flooding, record heat waves, and utility price hikes to top it all off. @GovKathyHochul can take concrete action, starting with the NY HEAT Act.

The Donlin Gold Mine, which would be the largest of its kind in the world, would dramatically change the Yukon-Kuskokwim region of Alaska, posing environmental risks that would threaten communities who have lived there for millennia. We're appealing in the Alaska Supreme Court.
There are about 50 Gulf of Mexico whales left in the world. Oil & gas development is the greatest danger to their survival, yet industry is going to court to try and remove even basic protections for these whales so they can make more money. It's shameful. https://t.co/khlZk0x6Wc
A coalition of over 60 Tribal Nations from across the Midwest & Canada led by the Bay Mills Indian Community has thrown its support behind Michigan Attorney General @dananessel's lawsuit to remove the Line 5 oil pipeline from the heart of the Great Lakes. https://t.co/slxzZrEk9t
We have a chance to support Maui residents in upholding the Clean Water Act. Since the 80s, a wastewater facility has discharged millions of gallons of sewage into groundwater that reaches a nearby coral reef. So we sued & now we can do something about it. https://t.co/lJyfOHHUCl
via @NYTimes - I won’t be buying The Masters, because “it’s not in my zeitgeist” and I just don’t think Wenner is “articulate … on an intellectual level”. Oh, also, it’s called “ The Masters” so there’s that - kind of a self admittance there. https://t.co/gocRNsDKl7
Important story! The threat of throwing massive subsidies at dirty hydrogen isn't just hypothetical - it's already happening in California. Just look to the Golden State to see what happens if the fossil fuel industry can call its hydrogen "clean" by buying paper credits.

What a kick in the face for the Biden Administration to announce CCS projects will count toward the 40% of climate spending that should benefit environmental justice communities. I assume this means fossil hydrogen+ccs projects will also count. https://t.co/BdpuFYS6ze
