Shivamogga Police Use Drones to Bust Forest Gambling Den

Shivamogga, Karnataka

In a tech-savvy crackdown on illegal activities, the #Shivamogga District Police busted a major gambling ring on the outskirts of Kudligere village. Using advanced drone surveillance, police apprehended 19 individuals caught in the act near a forest canal.

The operation was part of a district-wide initiative to monitor remote and inaccessible areas with drone technology. While patrolling the skies over Kudligere, police operators spotted a large group gathered suspiciously near the forest channel. Real-time aerial footage confirmed that the group was engaged in organized #gambling, believing the dense forest cover would conceal them.

Acting swiftly on the aerial intelligence, a special team led by the Police Inspector of Bhadravathi Rural Police Station launched a ground raid. The area was cordoned off, preventing suspects from fleeing into the woods.

Nineteen individuals were taken into custody and cash along with gambling materials were seized. Cases have been registered under relevant sections.

The Shivamogga Police have warned that drone surveillance will continue across the district to monitor illegal sand mining, timber smuggling and gambling, ensuring that “off-the-radar” locations are no longer safe havens for criminals.

🚨 Refusing to pay a bribe shouldn’t delay a child’s identity.

Born at Singasandra Government Hospital. Parents said NO to the bribe.

Result? Child’s name was left blank in the birth register. No proper birth certificate.

To fix this “simple” thing: Doddathoguru → Devarachikkanahalli → Begur → Bommanahalli. Multiple offices, multiple visits… just to fill one basic form.

Weeks wasted for something that should take minutes.

We can file taxes and do banking online instantly.
But adding a child’s name still requires running a physical maze?
Systems exist — but they’re designed for discretion, not citizens. This isn’t a one-off. It’s normalised harassment.

Refusing a bribe shouldn’t mean your child suffers.
