The African Literature Association is celebrating its 50th anniversary in Nairobi in June 2025. CFP for the annual conference can be found here: https://t.co/YJ4vsSlzHq @AfricanLitAssoc
@_ElevenPeople @michiganstateu He was so kind! We ended up stranded together late in Ann Arbor once the night before a conference. Though he didn't know me at all he decided we find a place to eat. We ate sushi and discussed Nollywood films (and astronomy!); he was hospitality personified. Go well Ken.
Thrilled to be co-organizing a MLA panel on the continued dominance of the historical novel in African literature with the indomitable @farahbakaari . Please share widely! https://t.co/u4kiY3ol99
@sm_osment agreed but it's symptomatic of a larger reluctance of faculty to get directly involved in organizing. There are tons of reasons for this (burnout esp.; faculty caught up in the infantalizing structures of academia; low pay/no time) and there are BEAUTIFUL exceptions...
@sm_osment organizing is happening already but it sounds like it's pretty dead on that front at #wvu which of course emboldens admin to make the dick moves they've been making.
@bucephalus424@gabrielwinant Can we discuss how this fighting back happens though? Inclined to think it's not on social media. I know faculty are demoralized but I also hope they're working on ways to make a ruckus and to get the students keyed up too
