#observability
Chronospherians across the world stand with & support the people of Ukraine & all those affected by these recent events. We all share a desire for peace and a quick resolution. Until that time comes, those impacted, both directly & indirectly, will remain in our thoughts.
M3 v1.3.0 released which includes a feature from @antanas_bastys that lets you deploy M3 Coordinator alongside any Prometheus Remote Write receiver (e.g. Prometheus, Thanos, Cortex, etc) for downsampling and rolling up extremely high cardinality metrics with user defined rules 🙌
M3 v1.0 is now released! 🎉
M3 is the engine that powers the Chronosphere monitoring service and we're happy to have contributed almost 600 commits from 19 contributors since mid-2019 to help reach v1.0.

@forked_franz@richardstartin FYI 8 byte access can be really useful not just for single byte, but for substring search as well. Used java.nio.ByteBuffer when playing with it: https://t.co/xkygI5oeLb. From what I can remember, this search impl. did not fit the Netty API.
@damageboy Reminded me of a 6x nested loop I wrote at the age of 16 solving https://t.co/KcQrG83Ihj. I think the limits in this task were chosen such that the Dynamic Programming state (6^5) would fit in a 16-bit addressable array. What a contrast pasting this next to a modern SIMD code.
Scala 2.13.2 is out, with:
* a brand-new Vector implementation
* configurable warnings
* an improved REPL (now JLine 3 based)
* bugfixes and more
Thank you to all our contributors ✨ https://t.co/eUnyGL6qb2

Even more performance, plus a useful observation on array bounds check elimination on @graalvm.
@richardstartin@bitmagicio@fleming_matt@WixEng Turns out there already is RoaringBitmap.addOffset which implements both left and right (with negative offset) shifts. Will have to try it out.
@richardstartin@bitmagicio@fleming_matt@WixEng FYI Bit Set (in general) shifts are also useful for subset sum / knapsack type of problems. Was one of the reasons to contribute to Scala BitSet (https://t.co/keG50sDCmt). AFAIK of major languages, only C++ STL also has them.
@richardstartin@WixEng Interesting! I wonder, if we don't promote it enough, will it get forgotten for another 30 years, again? (working on some further improvements, BTW)

@richardstartin Any good reason to rename the original? Also, 2 bugs ☹️
new UnsafeSparseBitMatrixSearcher("0".getBytes()).find("1".getBytes()); // 0
new UnsafeSparseBitMatrixSearcher("011111110".getBytes()).find("111111110".getBytes()); // 0
PR on the way.
