Inspiring learners to be curious about their world & feel empowered to change it — 3rd Grade Teacher & Learner • Abraham Depp Elementary • Dublin City Schools •
Today we celebrated and cheered on our fierce 3rd grade teacher @LindseyDanhoff as she gets ready to head off for brain surgery. Sending positive and healing thoughts your way! #teambrainhoff
Our economics project is underway— The task: Investigate the wants and needs of first graders, imagine a toy that hasn’t been invented yet and create it, and then influence the first graders to want to buy it with their allowance! Today we interviewed 1st grades to investigate!
Many Golden Thinkers have been worried about division— “I don’t know anything about it”, “I don’t have a clue.” We’ve been working on adding the word YET to the end of that to show that we will get there! We used some math tools to make sense of division & 💡went off! @adeDCSD
What do critical thinking, creative, collaborative, and communicative mathematicians do? The Golden Thinker said….they understand the problem, preserve, show their thinking with models and tools, share their thinking, and look for patterns! They then chose math goals! @adeDCSD
“How many heartprints will you leave today? Will you share with a friend? Will you give hugs away?” — today we exercised our giving muscles as we wrapped presents for adopt a family during our Winter Fest! @adeDCSD@DublinSchools
It’s Friday & that means Mystery Reader Day! No visitors allowed in the building? No problem! So thankful for technology to be able to still bring in families and their favorite books. We are growing readers, together! #TheDublinDifference@adeDCSD#mysteryreader#wegrowthinkers
The Golden Thinkers realized that our classroom library wasn’t meeting our needs as readers so we are reorganizing it! “Ms. Danhoff! We found the pattern of power!” “I’m finding so many non-fiction books. What’s Theo‘s favorite genre?” “I’ve found so many books I want to read!”
“Our job isn’t to prepare students for something. Our job is to help students prepare themselves for anything.” —@ajjuliani Excited to do this authentic & exciting work with the K-12 Experiential Learning Content Lead Team and @KristyVenne ! It’s a deep passion of mine! @adeDCSD
Think of yourself as an iceberg— we know a lot about each other in terms of what we can see above the water, but what’s deep below the surface that we should know about you? Symbolism is tricky but our creativity is pulling through to create “Know Me” sculptures. @adeDCSD
The Golden Thinker’s rules have been created 🙌🏼 1. Be self-aware 2. Be kind & stand up for others 3. Move quickly and quietly 4. Be a part of the team 5. Persevere and never give up! These rules are definitely going to help us achieve our hopes & dreams! @adeDCSD@responsiveclass
A class Gaga Ball Summit— not everyone is having fun or feeling safe playing so we sat down to imagine a different reality… “imagine if everyone was honest”, “imagine if people in line didn’t touch the ball”. We will keep problem solving until this our new reality! @adeDCSD
The Shoe 👟 Greeting always quickly becomes a fan favorite! Greeting each other as a way to see and be seen in our classroom community is our favorite way to start the day! @adeDCSD@responsiveclass
The Golden Thinkers worked hard to generate rules that we need to help everyone achieve their hopes and dreams— they are really proud of collaboratively sorting their super long list! BUT, we know our brain can only remember 3-5 rules so stay tuned for the final step! @adeDCSD
