These are our 4 NFG from this week ~ *all maps from the superb website run by @norfolkmoths
Rarest was Aristotelia brizella, then what seems to be Hysterophora maculosana + Pammene albuginana & Early Tooth-striped.
Quite the week!

Lovely, relaxing Christmas Day wander through the valley. The Cattle Egret showed nicely with Wiveton church as a backdrop. Two Ravens headed south over the Egret, while 2k Pink-feet, Woodcock, 4 Chiffchaffs & 75 Siskins added to a super TG04 selection.

@JohnGGolding@Vaasetter Thanks John. After a rather slow start we have had another year of surprises! As Mark says our End of Year Report for CMO is nearly ready.
Good luck for 2025!
Heartwarming & uplifting.
Thank you Ron, Jason & Don plus special guest Nick Lowe too of course.
A beautiful gig by @RonSexsmith at the London Palladium November 10 2024.
An absolute delight of an evening ~ perfect from start to finish.
(And we got to hear one of our Desert Island Discs too π)...
Thank you @RonSexsmith
Another new TG04 moth confirmed from CMO! Norfolk's 7th record of Tuta absoluta (that's a lot of fun to say π), the Tomato Leaf-miner, caught on 22/09. An adventive species from the Americas, it was 1st recorded in the UK in 2009 w/the 1st for Norfolk seen in 2017.

After the 1st CMO November record of Single-dotted Wave, last night brought our 1st-ever November Swallow-tailed Moth, resting on the outside of the landing window. Like the SDW, this may well be the latest Norfolk record to date as well (the 1st in November?).

Three from this morning at Cley Moth Obs ~ a fresh looking Large Wainscot, a rather gorgeous female Feathered Thorn (love her subtle tones) & a smart Black Rustic.
Moth of the day today at CMO was, remarkably, a Single-dotted Wave, a species with a flight period between May to August. This appears to be the 1st ever November record for Norfolk, the latest date listed is October 26 2022 (with two records last month as well).

More from Cley Moth Obs ~ a super Sprawler, a November Moth (agg)., another of the Gem plus a candidate Autumnal Moth (if we can confirm the identification, it would be a 1st for the Cley square).
A lovely late addition to the CMO garden list as the 2024 mothing year begins to draw to a close ~ our 1st Gem (& only the 4th for TG04). Neither of us expected this migrant moth in early November but there it was. Perhaps the last NFG of the year but you never know!

If you've a spare hour give the story, wonderfully told by @EricTheBirdman, of Ireland's legendary White Prominent moth a listen (there's also a lovely introduction to the mechanics of mothing too). Thx Eric & @RTERadio1 for such an enlightening 60 minsπ

A flurry of early action at CMO last night, which fell away as the temperature dropped. Two NFY species were nice bonuses: a super Feathered Thorn, two subtle November Moths (agg). Also in the mix an active Grey Shoulder-knot & hideaway Delicate.
Cheers @NigeJarman!

Last night I said to Lynnette that I'd really like to see a NFG moth this morning (never expecting anything to appear tho'). Amazingly, there *was* a "bingo!" moment when Lynnette found this gorgeous micro, Hypsopygia costalis (Gold Triangle) in the actinic.
Scenes.

A moth for Johnny...
Quite possibly the darkest, blackest, most perfect Black Rustic I've ever seen from this morning.
Immaculate in Sable & Raven hues.
