Hi all! I’m revising a study on the psychological and physical harm of #medicalgaslighting in #endometriosis. I’m looking to see if patients would be willing to provide feedback on the survey. Diverse voices are especially welcome. Please DM me if interested! 📊

As cost of #chronicpain is rising, why do we see no investment in prevention of pain, fx early diagnosis + management of #endometriosis, @wesstreeting? This #pain affects those early in their lives which contributes to chronic issues later... @guardian: https://t.co/4Kv2EmEPpI
A few days ago I talked about affective immunology and interoception! 👇
Perhaps now the importance of psychiatry will be recognised in inflammatory , immunological illnesses.
“The psychiatrist must be first and foremost and all the time a physician… In fact, psychiatry is neurology without physical signs, and calls for diagnostic virtuosity of the highest order… The simple fact [is] that a psychiatrist is a physician who takes a proper history at the first consultation."
“To be a great physician you must understand the whole story!”( Centor)
All patient experiences including ones that lie in the so called ‘psychological realm” are to be explored. No cherry picking.
“Internal state is dynamically represented by the nervous system to influence mood and emotion, and body-brain signals also direct responses to external sensory cues, enabling the organism to adapt and pursue its goals within an ever-changing environment.”
“It is a common misconception to trivialize these conditions as being “all in your head,” yet it is increasingly clear that the brain's activities resonate throughout the entire organism. What transpires within the neural confines has systemic repercussions, challenging us to broaden our perspective on health and disease.”
Psychiatry is a field that specialises in the expression of the above as one key component. And that’s why in #MECFS #POTS understanding of psychiatry is so crucial.

@AlicjaPawluczuk I understand your frustration - data collection is tricky. Some smaller Reddit forums have been open to sharing mine. There have been a few Fb groups/pages (mostly public groups) who have shared. Contacting people directly on insta sometimes helps.
