Thank you to @cpsenergy (public power) for traveling more than 300 miles from San Antonio, TX, to help restore power to GP&L customers. We appreciate your assistance!
A few reminders as we head into Thanksgiving:
-Don't comment on someone's body, even if it looks different than the last time you saw it.
-Don't comment on someone's food choices. Those are inside thoughts.
-Don't assign moral value to food. You don't need to "earn" pie.
ERCOT has issued an Energy Emergency Alert 2 (EEA 2) due to low power reserves. There are no controlled outages at this time. Please safely reduce electric use and have a plan to stay safe in case outages become necessary. Visit https://t.co/2vvLNwHoRV for more info.
THREAD (10:45 AM): @ERCOT_ISO is calling for conservation TODAY (08/27) from 4-9 PM as operating reserves for ERCOT are expected to be low for several hours this afternoon into the evening due to low wind and potential low solar generation, and high demand.

(1/2) TXANS Update—August 24, 2023: ERCOT has issued a Conservation Appeal for today, Aug. 24, from 3 – 10 p.m. due to extreme temperatures, continued near-record demand, and forecasted low wind-power generation. Tight grid conditions are expected this afternoon into the evening.
THREAD (4:15 PM) @ERCOT_ISO has requested statewide voluntary conservation for Sun. (08/20) from 7-10 p.m. ERCOT encourages Texans, businesses, and government agencies to reduce electricity use (health permitting) during this time period.

Today (7/10) is a Yellow Day! #BeatTheHeat by conserving more energy between 3-8 PM, such as:
🟡 Adjusting thermostats (health permitting)
🟡 Charge EVs at night (after 10 PM)
🟡 Avoid using large appliances (ex: washer/dryer)

SEVERE THREAT UPGRADED: The potential for strong to severe storms is likely across South Texas this evening. A cold front will be moving through the San Antonio area starting between 5-6pm and move southeast the rest of the evening. 1/3
4:39PM: Severe Thunderstorm Warning just outside of Bexar county. Large hail and damaging winds associated with these storms. They continue to move east to southeast at 30 mph.
(8 AM) CPS Energy crews have reported that ice accumulation on trees has been a common cause of today's weather-related outages. Here's a video of how ice can weigh down trees into nearby power lines.
REMINDER: Call CPS Energy at 210-353-HELP to report a downed power line.
So what's the situation in ERCOT?
Whether ERCOT hangs together or not depends on
1) Demand
2) Supply
3) Wires and Poles
My prediction: ERCOT will be fine, but there will be isolated outages.
So let's go through these points. 🧵
(8:30 PM) We’re aware of an outage affecting customers on the city’s far West Side near the area of Kriewald Rd/Hwy 90.
Our crews are actively investigating the cause of the outage. We thank you for your patience and understanding.
