@grassrootsag Have a paddock of lupins sown into a soil pH of 4.2. Paddock was destined for liming but grower chose to lime a paddock sown to barley instead. After your post, I’m keen to go and check out how the nodulation is travelling…

@burgess_ag Water logging can indicate sodic soil which is hydrophobic and repels the water, impeding normal drainage into the soil profile.
Barley grass can be an indicator of soil salinity but of the 2 species, it’s the short one which is the indicator.
Could be seed AR in soilbank.

@burgess_ag It’s hard when we are faced with stress and uncertainty, it gets you in the gut. If you’re waking up between 3-4am then you’re under too much stress, need to take some pressure off or too close to the situation. We usually need to step away to reach clarity.

@Just_Rad The people who could offer solutions (low cost-low rent housing in communal villages) are not motivated to do so and the people who want to help are often just keeping a roof over their own heads and trying to absorb the cost of living. Unkind approaches only foster judgement.

@brodenholland @trialsofJManson Better than if just to 10cm but your data indicates acidity to at least 15-20cm and it could be deeper. Until you have saturation in surface layers the alkaline effect will be in micro-pockets and not move.

Referring to saturation of acidity, being the ‘Driver’ of lime movement to depth. Rainfall a factor but not the most important. Discussions with Conyers gave me new appreciation of lime movement.

Ever done the cotton strip assay to test between paddocks? How do we enhance microbial activity? By building C.
