The vast difference in total cost of very different “rule breaking” for 2 Premier League clubs: 💰

EVERTON narrowly overspending on PSR due to interest payments on a new stadium at the end of the 2021/22 season:

- Loss of league position prize money = £27m

- Compensation to Burnley = £40m

- Legal and administrative costs defending multiple cases, appeals and the Burnley tribunal = £17m

(Not to mention damage to brand, damage to squad mentality, damage to prospect of potential new signings & attracting potential managers & new ownership, damage to sponsors and massive reduction in broadcasting and commercial income)

TOTAL COST: £84m 💰

Chelsea blatantly cheating for 7 straight years with 74 for charges for funnelling £47.5m in 36 secret, off the books payments (via shady third parties and offshore entities) to unregistered agents & player reps from 2011-2018 to grease deals for stars like Hazard, Willian, Eto’o, Ramires, David Luiz, Schürrle and Matic in order to win:

▪️ 2013 UEFA Europe League
▪️ 2015 Premier League
▪️ 2015 League Cup
▪️ 2017 Premier League
▪️ 2018 FA Cup

CHELSEA escaped with a mere £10.75m fine for systematically concealing backhanded payments over seven years to rig transfers and gain real sporting advantage by winning 7 trophies during their 7 year period of dodgy deals.

This grotesque disparity, punishing the likes of Everton who could have - and arguably should have - been relegated with the harsh points deductions issued, while slapping the wrist of the profligate powerful, exposes football’s rotten core.. rules enforced not by justice, but by current club size, influence and the Premier League’s embarrassingly obvious selective blindness.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

It’s even more laughable when you consider the three panel members who decided to issue this ground breaking never been done before compensation claim to Burnley from Everton.. were somehow the same three panel members who dished out the harshest points deduction in English top flight history to Everton for the very same reason!?

How on earth is that allowed?

In 2024 Chelsea received a €5m add on bonus from Real Madrid as a result of Real reaching the Champions League final for the sale of Eden Hazard.

Hazard had retired from football in 2023 and Chelsea earned €150m from the deal overall.

According to the Premier League negotiated settlement with the club Chelsea received no on field advantage from signing Hazard from Lille for €35m in 2012 and therefore a £10m fine was appropriate rather than a points deduction.

I wonder if the unnamed person who approved the illicit payments to agents and others at Chelsea is connected to the unnamed person who approved a £35m payment to an unnamed Chelsea director after the sale to BlueCo took place.

The 28 page PL decision document, which reviewed 200,000 pieces of evidence, does not name those who signed off on dodgy deals, why the silence?

Interesting that in the Everton points deduction verdict the Premier League said “A financial penalty for a club that enjoys the support of a wealthy owner is not a sufficient penalty” and that “the requirements of deterrence, vindication of compliant clubs, and the protection of the integrity of the sport demand a sporting sanction in the form of a points deduction’.

Presumably the Chelsea fine (which ultimately is just a deduction from what billion dollar Clearlake will pay to billionaire Abramovich from the £150m held back at the deal date) is then neither punishment, a deterrent or protecting the integrity of the sport?

If I was an Everton or Forest fan would not be happy with this outcome.
