I wrote about gene-gene interactions (epistasis) and the implications for heritability, trait definitions, natural selection, and therapeutic interventions. Biology is clearly full of causal interactions, so why don't we see them in the data? A 🧵:
I'm often asked how human genetics can be used to validate drug targets.
In our new @NatureCVR paper, we provide an end-to-end framework for IL-6 inhibition🧵
👉build a genetic proxy
👉demonstrate potential for cardiovascular benefit
👉assess expected & unexpected safety signals

Found this really nice timeline about the history of #rstats.
It is very interesting how #bioconductor is created just one year after the stable version of R.
And RStudio first release happens only in 2011, 4 years after Hadley's ggplot2!

Hi there! I'm recruiting a postdoc for 18 months. Please check this out if you're interested: https://t.co/dlHTUA1y1c
This ad is on for Australia-based applicants only. Other positions will open at beginning of next year. Stay tuned!
Join us at our 2nd Genetics & Genomics Winter School in Brisbane, Australia, from June 19-23! This week-long course is open to participants from all over the world. Register now and get more information at https://t.co/zuDjSkGpfz @PCTGenomics@IMBatUQ
Check out our new method SBayesRC for polygenic prediction. We extended SBayesR to consider functional annotations and all imputed common SNPs. We found improved accuracy for within and cross ancestry prediction and a major contribution from evolutionary constrained regions

Our recent work on the development of a more powerful gene-based test using GWAS summary statistics. We found that masking effects (i.e., SNP effects are masked by linkage disequilibrium) is common, if not ubiquitous, in the genetic architecture of complex traits. @Ang_Li_19
Registration is still open. Deadline is extended to be COB 13th May, unless modules fill up earlier. Looking forward to see you in June!
