Twenty-five years. The grief and tragedy of #September11 still deeply echoes today. Remembering all those we lost that horrific day and the thousands of heroic responders and workers we have lost in the years since due to illnesses tied to Ground Zero. We will #NeverForget. ❤️🇺🇸
The #UN warns that an intensifying #ElNiño cycle is pushing #climate patterns into uncharted territory. We cannot be fatalistic. Proactive mitigation in global cooperation is essential to both our resilience and trajectory. #environment#climateaction 🌎

Horrific. 💔 The palm oil industry is setting #Borneo on fire for profit expansion. #Orangutans and other #wildlife are trapped as their habitat burns around them. Sempurna's death is a tragic example of innocence paying the price for corporate greed. #conservation#environment
Reports on #coralreef decline highlight a crisis now at a tipping point. Environmental policy continues to lag behind ecological reality. Recovery depends on urgent and effective action across marine #ecosystems. #conservation#environment#oceans 🌎🌊🙏

Queen #bees survive pesticide exposure by passing the toxic burden into their eggs, a hidden defense that could come at a cost to the colony. "There may be a slow creeping effect of chemical accumulation that will contribute to delayed colony collapse." https://t.co/OWP00Y2GBL
Fire prevention is not ecologically sound justification to further encroach on protected forest #ecosystems. Roads elevate ignition risk, degrade vital headwaters, and fracture unbroken corridors our #wildlife need to survive. #conservation#environment

Saturating public lands with #glyphosate brings destructive consequences to human health, #biodiversity, soil, and clean waters for profit. It is not responsible #reforestation to undermine forest recovery for industry gain. #environment#conservation 🌲

So many stolen lives in staggering injustice. Remembering those who suffered under the transatlantic slave trade. May we honor their humanity, acknowledge the deep pain left behind, and commit to always listening, learning, and growing in understanding.

#Conservation focuses on protecting individual species, but also our vital engineers. #Elephants don't just inhabit space. They build the infrastructure that stabilizes land, water, and entire #ecosystems. It all connects... and that is why it matters. #environment#wildlife 💚
Abandoning the #Arctic Report Card is a reckless failure of American leadership. Objective science is essential. We cannot address or mitigate #climate impacts if we refuse to measure them while isolating from our global community. #environment 🌍

The industrial invasion of protected #Arctic land is exploitation. Unauthorized drilling in Greenland’s tundra disregards sovereignty, threatens #wildlife, and harms its people. #Greenland holds authority over its own land and resources. 🌎 #environment

“For the last few decades, the nutrient content of our crops has been declining. In the late 90s, the US Department of Agriculture found the vitamin C content of lemons had decreased by almost a third over the previous 22 years. Calcium in carrots, an important source especially for non-meat eaters, had reduced, on average, by more than a quarter. Vitamin A in bananas was down by 57%. The mineral content of wheat has declined by between 20-30% since the 1960s.
A number of reasons have been suggested for this worrying decline, ranging from new varieties of crop that are bred to grow quicker and bigger to the higher carbon dioxide levels in the air causing plants to produce more sugars and starches (they grow faster but they produce fewer nutrients)...”

A new treatment reactivates the brain's cleaning system, clearing 42% of toxic Alzheimer's plaque and restoring memory.
In Alzheimer's disease, the buildup of toxic amyloid-beta proteins forms sticky plaques that disrupt brain function. However, emerging research suggests that this buildup isn't just an overproduction problem—it is a failure of the brain's waste-removal system.
Normally, specialized transport pumps called P-glycoprotein (P-gp) at the blood-brain barrier push these toxins out of the brain. In Alzheimer's patients, these pumps weaken, trapping waste inside.
A new study published in ACS Chemical Neuroscience has shown that treating animal models with a copper-based compound called Cu(ATSM) successfully increased these clearance pumps by 24.1%. This restoration allowed the brain to clear out the trapped toxins, leading to a 42% reduction in amyloid-beta plaques.
Most importantly, this boost in the brain's natural disposal system led to a dramatic 44% improvement in spatial learning and memory over 56 days. While these findings come from laboratory and animal studies and have yet to be tested in human Alzheimer's patients, Cu(ATSM) is already being evaluated for other neurological disorders like Parkinson's and ALS. This clinical history could significantly fast-track future trials. By focusing on repairing the brain's built-in waste-disposal mechanism rather than merely attacking existing plaques, researchers are opening up a promising new frontier in the fight against dementia.
